“charlie’s so fantastic! if he lets me, i’m gonna teach him all about our business and give him more free samples, obviously. he’s such a cool kid and i’m really thankful to have him in my life.”

“i could say about a million things about col. she’s one of the two great loves of my life, my partner in crime. she’s clever and fun and always willing to indulge me in some crazy adventure. plus, she’s hot as all hell. i could go on about her for hours and hours.” 

“honestly, no. they’ve made my life so full. and they’ve made me happier than i ever thought possible. they gave me my kids and they are the most supportive partners. i didn’t know love could be this good.” 

“tea, for sure. nothin’ like some good herbal tea and a blunt to start your morning off right.” 

she huffs at the noise — though, she’snot entirely upset at the visitor ( though a little regretful ) because she did invite eva anyways. so really she should be mad at herself and if colette was in any sense sober, she’d be mad at herself for the damn mistake. “’m not that drunk – if you wanna talk worry, talk ‘bout autumn and her lack of braincells. but i’ll take the wine,” she moves from her spot on the couch and sits up.

eva quirked an eyebrow, “you seem pretty drunk, cole. and i worry about you constantly, you’re my baby.” she handed her the bottle of wine before setting down the the paper bag on the counter, “i also brought crickets, but you can deal with those when you’re sober.” she sat beside her on the couch, “so why me of all people? you miss living at home that much?” she joked. eva was worried about her daughter- what with the drunk texting and the weird drug text- but she didn't want to intrude too much yet, better to ease into she figured.

one thing that charlie loved to hear, is people’s life experiences— especially people that he cared about… eva lived a full life and had so many stories “new orleans’ got some great food” he commented, smiling soon after when she offered him a job. “i’m working at the diner with jamie and it’s alright.. i’d rather work here though— much more my style” plus his aunt would actually murder him but that’s another barrier that he would have to jump though. “what’s it called?” looking over at all the others “and what’s your favorite?”

“well, i know the diner’s probably fun, but if ya ever need a change of scenery then we’ve got a place for you here. jude and i can show you the ropes. though, of course, college first. if that’s what you want!” eva didn't want to step on any toes by encouraging no college at all- that would be irresponsible, right? she grinned, “that’s grandaddy purple. it’s really good for stress and insomnia- it’s a hybrid.” she pointed to another one, “i have a lot that i use, but i like purple urkle. it’s one of the strains in the one you picked, it’s older so i gives me kinda a throwback feel. helps me relax too.”

“No, I’ve been sleeping more I think,” she knew it was mostly because she was taking meds that made her sleepy - and a little high - at night but that didn’t need to be said obviously. “I didn’t always hate them,” she laughed. “Just the usual stuff. I’m just ready for it to be summer. I don’t think there are that many days left of classes. I’m gonna start a count down.”

“Really? That’s weird.” Maybe you should get that checked out, she wanted to say, but decided against it. Eva didn't want to argue with Colleen about her well-being again. She grinned, “Good, as long as you don’t hate our teenagers then you’re perfect.” She kissed her forehead softly, “Soon it’ll be summer and you won’t have to worry about anything- no grades, no crazy kids- just hangin’ out.”

he didn’t know what he expected, but he definitely should have seen a hug coming. his mothers had always been affectionate, always making sure that he felt loved, and it usually just ended up making him feel smothered. now that he had some space of his own, though? he likes coming home more than he once did. he hugs her in return, rubbing her back until she finally let go.“i knew one of you did this on purpose. i thought it was gonna be autumn.” he shakes his head, tries not to worry about his idiot sister now that he’s moved out of home. making his way to the kitchen, he threw her a look of disbelief at her words. “gee, ma, that’s awful sweet of you.”

Tobias knew that feeling all too well. At the age of fifteen, he’d moved away from home out of necessity, survival, and wanderlust. Now as an adult, he had a settled life, but it didn’t mean the adventurous spirit in him was gone. He smiled and waited until she was settled on the back of his bike with him, then took off. Slow at first, so Eva didn’t just fly off the bike or get startled right away, but then he gradually increased his speed. Before they knew it, they were speeding through town, weaving through the sleepy traffic. They passed through residential areas, shops, and drove through the downtown area, and it felt like time flew by as quickly as they did. About half an hour had passed before they returned to the bar. He cut the engine and pulled down the brake, then took off his helmet. “So? Was it everything you dreamed of and more?” he asked grinning.

Eva’s early adulthood had taken her to many different places with many different people. She was no stranger to possibly dangerous situations, though, compared to some of her escapades, a motorcycle ride was hardly dangerous. But it was exhilarating and it fulfilled her need for spontaneity. She appreciated Tobias for that, for reminding her how fun it could be to do maybe slightly crazy things again. Eva has always felt young- at heart, at least- but as they rode, she felt free and like she was a teenager again. As they came to a stop once again, she pulled off her helmet and gave the other a bright smile, “That is exactly what I needed. Truly. I haven't done anything like that in a long time.” She chuckled, “So, if you ever need a riding partner, come find me. Honestly.” 

he smiled at the motherly figure “i knew i liked you for a reason, eva” waggling his finger in a joking manner “but where did you travel to? i wanna hit all the cool spots” charlie and eva were extremely similar so he was fairly certain that he would travel to the same spots. she started taking out some products and he was— in his own personal heaven at this point “why can’t this be mine? i want this life. this job is probably the fucking dopest” he began to gush and eyed one bud in particular “that one. it’s speaking to me… i know it” cracking some jokes— a rare occurrence for the male. but it kept coming when she mentioned that she didn’t go to college “you did well for yourself though, didn’t really need it” nodding when she suggested canada— he was pretty sure he had a passport “canada, got it”

eva grinned, winking at charlie before letting out a breath, recalling her travels once she’d fled arizona, “well, on my way east i went to new orleans- that place is great- then of course, i headed north. i stopped in tennessee and hung out in the mountains before going way north to canada, then i circled to maine,” her travels had taken her in a lot of weird directions, but she was just going to call out the highlights, “it’s really cool there- i camped in acadia national park for a few weeks with nothing but a few cans of beans and a tent. good times.” she smiled wistfully as she thought about her travels. then she laughed, “listen, if you ever need a job then we’ve got a spot for you. none of our kids wanna work here so.” she shrugged. eva understood her kids’ position. she couldn't blame them, truthfully, “that’s a really good strain.” she pushed it forward toward him, “you’ve got taste. but i already knew that.”
