there's just no time to die.

sitting back - allowing herself a moment before she dragged them both up and tried to do their actual job, “what did you remember?” curious, she wasn’t having a difficult time piecing together the night, she was well past the days she’d wake up with out clue of the mischief she had been up to – but she had a tendency to miss the good stuff, “that would mean that this is rock bottom –” she sighed, “always thought it would feel worse” 

“we should move” hating herself as the words slipped out with as much reluctance she had in her, if they were both on the same side, something was clearly wrong, “you need to be the voice of reason, evan”

he rubbed a hand over his eyes before shaking it off. the headache was slowly subsiding but evan did tend to make a scene of himself and halloween was no exception. “oh just agreeing to a stupid dare that involved getting on a table.” he shakes his head now, a small laugh escapes his lips. “hm, maybe the universe is just saying we’re lucky.”

     ❝   you   callin   me   pretty,   rosier   ?   ❞   —   the   funny   thing   is,   rabastan   knew   he   was   pretty.   it   was   something   he   used   to   his   advantage,   the   name   included.   rather   vain   he   was,   but   getting   compliments   never   failed   to   hurt,   even   if   they   were   out   of   spite   from   ones   best   friend.   ❝   bad   ideas   are   always   good   ideas.   plus,   i’m   sure   that   pretty   little   face   of   yours   will   get   you   out   of   whatever   bullshit   you   have   to   do   tomorrow.   ❞   it   was   a   benefit   to   their   names,   their   blood.   ❝   plus,   they   have   you   working   like   a   damn   dog   —   do   you   ever   let   yourself   get   a   break   ?   ❞   evan   was   all   physical,   meanwhile   rabastan   just   had   to   work   on   his   speech   and   manner   and   he   was   golden.

It  was  a  map  before  him,  points  lighting  up  like  little  sentinels  across  the  least  protected  wixen  villages.  The  gold  light,  that  was  a  good  one  -  calming.  Those  red  lights,  however,  gave  a  leap  in  his  heart.  It  had  been  a  few  months  since  he  last  ‘caught’  a  red  light  on  his  map.  And  in  the  silence  of  his  office,  his  face  drew  closer,  and  closer  to  the  glow  where  he  stared  long  enough  to  no  longer  be  sure  of  the  color  where  the  tan  parchment,  black  lines,  and  golden  shimmer  bonded  into  a  grey-ish  mode.  

Leanly  he  had  swiveled  behind  his  own  chair,  one  hand  pressed  to  the  desk  with  the  other  already  holding  his  wand  out  to  the  door.  Not  even  a  freaking  knock,  rude  bastards.  That’s  what  he  had  convinced  himself  of  by  now.    “I  told  ye  to  introduce  yourself  when  coming  into  a  room.”  He’d  make  it  a  freaking  law  if  he  could,  but  even  as  his  shoulders  were  lax  the  wand  stayed  pointed  outwards.  “Do  ye  think  I’m  holding  office  hours  or  something?”  The  edge  was  gone,  and  he  quickly  flicked  his  wand  downwards  rolling  the  map  and  enchanting  it’s  space  back  to  the  drawer.  “Come  back  later,  please.” @antemortemstarters​

tarquin had made the dumb decision of picking up two consecutive shifts at the three broomsticks ; he needed the money, but the lack of sleep was getting to him. and for some reason, the pub was as packed in the early morning as it was last night. “ mate, can you order something.. i don’t know, today? “ man, were people picky when it came to breakfast. 

“being miserable in the aftermath isn’t going to do us any good” she sighed, her shades shielding her from the bright sun that she was wishing away - at least the rain didn’t make her want to gauge her eyes out “hell - if i’m the optimistic one, i can tell you that it’s going to be a day” 

“he’s going to end up in knockturn alley anyway – do we really have to move?” 

“no,” he agrees, but he rubs his temples, he’s been nursing the same cup of coffee from this morning, but any movement made him ache. “oh, i just remembered some stuff from last night,” he almost laughs, shaking his head again. “listen, we can only go up from here, yeah?”

     ❝   if   i   wasn’t   your   best   friend   right   now,   i’d   probably   be   insanely   embarrassed   for   you,   ❞   rab   chuckled   as   he   shook   his   head   —   and   maybe   it   was   the   heavy   smell   in   the   air   or   the   new   bartender,   but   the   lestrange   was   really   beginning   to   feel   the   drinks   he   shared   with   evan   that   night.   ❝   at   least   this   way   i   can   be   both.   ❞

“What can I say, mate - I’m a Gryffindor, boldness is kind of our whole thing,” Ned replies, lifting one shoulder in a lazy shrug as he scoops his own beer off the table, getting to his feet. This isn’t the kind of contest you participate in sitting down. “We’ll see about that. Not being funny, but I don’t know if you’ve got the kind of stamina it takes to keep up with me.” He punctuates his last statement with a wink, smirking at Evan from behind the lip of his pint glass. “Chug on three, then?”

“Yes,” Georgie said as she got up from her desk. She wasn’t entirely sure when her apartment became her and Narcissa’s apartment. Honestly? She loved it. It was much easier to come home knowing someone else wold be there, too. She grabbed the bag sitting on their coffee table, handing it over to Evan. “I have no idea what it is so I would like you to know I am not at fault for any damage it might cause.”

      the despondent grumbling is to be expected; especially when the scent of last night still clings to his skin, enough that she half fears he may set the place alight if put too close to a candle. “we’ll cross that bridge in a moment shall we ??” she muses, fixing him with a despairing smile. he’d be of no use in this state but ellary was always prepared for moments like this. far too many of her friends indulged in more firewhiskys than their body could handle. pouring out a cup of tea, she adds in a vial of milky iridescent liquid, before nudging the cup towards him. “drink that-” the witch nods. “i don’t want your breakfast repeating on you when we apparate.”

          there’s  a  wave  of  relief  that  loosens  the  tension  building  in  her  shoulders   when  he  finally  admits  that  she’s  not  the  problem  ;  because  it  was  far  easier  to  ignore  the  budding  anxiety  that  it  was  something  more  .  the  inked  mark  on  his  forearm  was  enough  evidence  for  rosalind  to  understand  just  how  far  he’d  gotten  and  it’d  be  foolish  to  even  think  that  it  was  possibly  the  source  of  anguish  in  his  features  . she  wasn’t  going  to  pry  ,  though  -  she’d  learned  the  hard  way  that  it  was  often  better  to  know  less  .  ❝  okay  , ❞   rosalind  finally  says  once  he’s  latched  onto  her  and  a  hand  moves  to  cradle  the  back  of  his  head  .   ❝    i  will  stay  .  ❞   there  wasn’t  even   an  argument  to  have  been  made  ,  especially  as  she  falls  back  against  the  headboard  of  the  bed  they’d  often  share  so  his  weight  would  easily  against  her  frame .  

the  vulnerability  in  his  words  and  the  way  he  seemed  to  only  hold  onto  her  tighter  draws  forth  an  emotion  in  rosalind  that  feels  almost  foreign .  her  other  hands  moves  to  softly  caress  his  back  ,  not  necessarily  sure  what  to  even  say  because  she’d  been  the  one  to  ruin  the  moment .  these  were  the  kind  of  heavy  silences  that  would  be  easy  to  fill  for  most  ;  but  for  rosalind  ,  she  loathes  it .  ❝  we’ll  just  take  it  easy  tonight  ,  then  .  ❞   

if there was something that he hated it was the secrecy of everything—it was a secrecy that kept a lot of people safe but that didn’t mean that he liked it. there were things going on that was far more powerful than he was. and he wouldn’t lie and say that he hadn’t been distracted at work because of it. when it came to this war that was just starting to get to the point of a breaking point he didn’t know where to begin, so he came here, more often than not, this was a much more welcoming place than the rosier home which was just a lot dark and long, empty halls, always a little too cold than it needed to be because all the life that had once been there had been sucked out by his father. it seemed fitting that when he died he took everything with him. he blamed his father for a lot of things and evan knew that he could’ve changed it, and damn him for caring about his old man that didn’t give one shite about him or his siblings. while rosalind and evan came from the same world there was a difference, and evan had made his choice and now he had to lie in it. he looks at her now, his fingers tracing over her forehead, moving the hair out of her eyes and then her cheek before it rested on her collarbone. easy affection had never come easy to him, when it came to his line of work and who he was as a person, fists and blood was a much easier route than gentleness. he didn’t know what to do with it once he got it.
