Fun fact: if you, as an adult, tell miserable children that their youth is the best that life will ever be, and that it's all just downhill from there, there's a percentage of them who will hear this and think "well, I guess I better kill myself before that happens." And a certain percentage of those will proceed to do that and succeed.
Anyway what I'm saying is that any time you feel tempted to say that, you should instead consider shutting the fuck up. Just because you peaked at 16 doesn't mean anyone else did. Most peoples' lives get better than that.
I got lunch with my uncle and my neice, who Fifteen(tm) and i was like How Are You?
And she was just like "school sucks, my mom sucks, being fifteen sucks, i just want to grow up"
and so me, a wise and wisened newly fresh thirty year old just replied "yeah it does fucken suck!"
And when i tell you the air physically lightened up and she laughed so hard! And she told me more about why it all sucks and how she feels like no one listened to her, and they tell her to just do it, just get it done, and this girl is tired! She has so much homework and she feels like shes not smart because shes inundated with homework and school and she feels like the people in her life are not hearing her!
Just agree with people when they say something sucks for them! Offer a little sympathy, have some empathy. It does fucking suck being Fifteen.
i think a lot of this sentiment comes from the fact that the world that the current generation of parents grew up in was a lot better than the world of today, and so from a lot of their perspectives it seems like everything has just gotten worse for the last 30 years (because it kinda has). but then they falsely attribute that to THEIR age instead of noticing that civilization has just gotten worse overall since the early 90s, which is compounded by them also failing to recognize that their childs life could be in any way meaningfully different than theirs was
idk if anyone else has seen the surge of memes making fun of cave divers recently. there was a comment on one that was like "cave divers with 4 kids, 2 degrees, a loving wife and a huge house when they learn that Satan's Sphincter has a 0% survival rate" it had me crying laughing
You'd think "oh, well they're rich dipshits with no training who pulled a Stockton Rush, IE: did something everyone told them not to and then died" but nope, 90% of cave diving stories are like "Johnny Wetsuit had 5000 hours diving experience, a doctorate in Cave Diveology from the most prestigious university in the world, was trained to swim by literal navy seals, was part dolphin and had the power of echo-location, God himself contacted him to let him know the conditions in Drowning Idiot Cave were going to be perfectly safe for cave diving, so he went Cave Diving, made one tiny mistake, and then he got stuck and drowned to death."
ok but there’s a reason cave diving signs go so hard
My brother used to do SCUBA stuff and apparently there's spots in places like Lake Tahoe where there's just bodies that haven't been recovered because the people that could go and get them know better than to go diving in the parts of the lake where the bodies are.
I feel like the ‘Satan’s Asshole Cave’ meme is a bit of a misnomer though because half of these places are named. Nutty Putty. Darby Canyon. Wookey Hole.
It’s more like; Loopty Doopty Cavern, where 18 out of 25 known explorers had to have their bodies dragged out over excruciating 28 hour long recovery missions
Hold I have to look something up...
What the fuck
so many people don't understand how abelist it is to kill your brother with a rock
"Clearly I wasn't talking about disabled people-" yeah part of the problem is that the existence of disabled people just isn't considered in your worldview like that's the problem we're criticizing not a get out of jail free card

So back in 2005, I saved up my own money, dollar by dollar, scrimping and saving every nickel and quarter, to buy my very first "just for me" video game- Devil May Cry 3. It was the first game I ever finished by myself, on my own, never having watched anyone else play it before. It was tough, and SUPER frustrating at points, but I loved it. The whole thing was a very special experience for me and that game holds an important place in my heart,
A few years after finishing it, I was talking to a friend who had just played it. He was saying how he dumped all of his orbs (game currency) into upgrading his minimum health pool and how he wanted to start over with a different build.
I stared at him. "Wait, what?" He repeated- he dumped all his orbs into increasing his minimum HP and just tanked a bunch of stuff.
That was when I realized that you could upgrade your minimum health. I had not noticed that you could spend orbs to do that. I spent them on everything else OTHER than upgrading my health bar. I literally spent so so so frikkin long beating the game with MINIMUM. HP. I WOULD HAVE HAD SAVED SO MUCH TIME AND ENERGY IF I HAD JUST FRIKKIN NOTICED THAT INCREASING MY MINIMUM HEALTH WAS EVEN AN OPTION. NO WONDER I HAD TO REDO THE SAME FIGHTS 20 TIMES. NO WONDER EVERYTHING WAS SO. DIFFICULT. I COMPLETELY just missed a crucial element to gameplay and specs and I basically played the game entirely incorrectly, exerting WAY more effort to get the same results as anyone who actually took time to examine the obvious upgrade options.
Anyway, that's what discovering that I have ADHD in my 30s has been like.

if you want jews out of your country, you don’t get to keep our shit. you can’t use any yiddish sayings anymore like schmutz or nosh or klutz. you can’t have any jewish inventions either like instant cameras and cherry tomatoes and also the polio vaccine. it also means you can’t watch any movies made by jews or music made by jews or food made by jews. do you know how fucking boring life would get without us??
Nobody serious is arguing Jews should be expelled from countries or erased from society. Jewish communities have contributed enormously to science, medicine, culture, philosophy, music, and technology , just like many other communities have.
But this “you benefit from Jewish contributions, therefore you can’t criticize Israel” argument doesn’t really work. Appreciating Jewish contributions to humanity is not the same thing as giving any government immunity from criticism.
Nobody serious is arguing
Yea girl we know u aint serious lmao

there are about 15 million jews in the world right now.
i know it can be difficult to put numbers into context.
so here are numbers larger than the amount of jews in the world:
People in Italy (59 million)
People in Iraq (48 million)
People in Cambodia (18 million)
People in Florida (23.5 million)
People in the Los Angeles metro area (17.7 million)
scarier ones:
Kanye's twitter followers (30.9 million)
Kanye's monthly listeners on Spotify (76 million)
Bella Hadid's Instagram followers (60.5 million)
Subscribers to the Joe Rogan Experience on YouTube (20.9 million)
Tucker Carlson's twitter followers (17.6)
so yeah we are kinda drowning

text: [ “Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5000 years.” ]
And they're absolutely specifically pushing it, make no mistake. It's not just a matter of "it's there, it's convenient, so people are going to take the path of the least resistance", but it is a legitimate and concerted effort on the part of these companies to get people to outsource all these things to their models.
They're preying on insecurities to do it. Yes, you can write an essay - but can you write a good essay, they ask you. Do you not want to improve your output? Do you not want people to think of you as competent and very clever? Why go through the mortifying process of failing and failing and failing until you succeed if you can just skip the "learning" part of doing, and simply generate a ready-made product?
I'm preaching to the choir here obviously but it's a concerning thing to witness nonetheless. My kid is 6 next week and I've been teaching her that failing at things is morally neutral and in fact necessary even before the advent of AI, but it's becoming ever more important that we teach the kids that criticism and failure and discomfort aren't necessarily bad things, but just a part of the growth process.

One day, western leftists will need to come to terms with the fact that Arab and Islamic colonization very much did and still does exist and that the negative impacts are still felt by ethnic groups that have been and still are violently colonized and brutalized by that colonial power.
It’s actually really narcissistic to think that only white European or American countries can do wrong or violently colonize peoples and places. It simultaneously erases the suffering of indigenous peoples who suffered extremely at the hands of non-white colonial powers and infantilizes non-white people by believing they somehow aren’t able to do bad things.
You should be able to recognize that some groups can be oppressed minorities in America and still be majority oppressors in other places.
Western leftists will talk about how North America used to have 500 languages and then refuse to think about why Morocco speaks Arabic

because someone decided to drop the word 'ethostate' in the comments of a post about israel again, i thought we could play around with some numbers.
According to a 2023 statistic Jews make up about 73 % of Israel's population. Let's compare that with some other countries. (While ethnostate actually refers to racial or ethnic groups and Judaism isn't 'just a religion', I will also give examples for the demographics of religions in countries)
Let's start with the EU: According to statistics from 2019 about 64% of the EU's population were Christian, a decline from 72% in 2012. So what? In 2012 the EU was actually a Christian ethnostate? Or at least consisted of ethnostates? I mean if we think about it, we have to follow the Christian calendar, Christian holidays are mandated by the state while other religious groups have to fight every year to be able to observe their most sacred days. Hell, where I live (in Germany) one of the currently ruling parties is called the Christian Democratic Union and our Grundgesetz (basic law) is built upon Christian roots. They even invoke God in the preamble!
Here some further statistics about Religion in Europe.
As you can see even just looking at individual Christian denominations, there are about 6 countries for which the religious majority makes up more than 3/4th of the population. IN THESE COUNTRIES ONE DENOMINATION OF CHRISTIANITY HAS A HIGHER POPULATION PERCENTAGE THAN JEWS IN ISRAEL. So I hope this shows that 'Israel is an ethnostate cause there is just one religion determining everything' is utter bullshit not just because Judaism is not just a religion but also because I can name 6 countries in Europe alone for which there is a higher percentage of people of a certain religion.
So now to actually look at specific countries. Ireland especially seems to have an antisemitism problem, so how about we focus on them.
As of 2022 the amount of Catholics in Ireland has decreased so that they actually make up 69.1% of the population as opposed to the over 75% from 2019. But the definition of ethnostates actually specifically looks at ethnic or racial groups. Let's see. As of 2022 the largest ethnic group in were White Irish, making up a whole 76.5% of the Irish population. Including other white people in this, this number increases to 87.4% of the population. That is 14% more than the 73% that Jews make up of the Israeli population. The next largest group in Ireland are Asians with 3.7% (or depending on how you'd like to spin it, the 6.16% who did not state their ethnicity. This still doesn't make Ireland an ethnostate though.
And some more examples:
China: 91.11% Han Chinese (2020)
Russia: 71.73% ethnic Russians (2021)
Saudi Arabia: 90% Arabs, 10% Afro-Arabs (2021)
USA: 57.84% White (2020)
Canada: 69.8% White (2022)
Germany: 71.3% Germans (2022)
Democratic Republic of Congo: no dominant ethnic group
South Africa: 81.4% Black
Just so it is completely clear: It is not my intention to call any of the countries listed here an ethnostate, rather I want to detail the absurdity of calling Israel an ethnostate, when you can look at demographics and see many other countries with similar or higher percentages of ethnic (or racial or religious) majorities.
