as a surfer in sothern california, peter alexander was inspired to create these resins from the process of glossing his surf boards. the substance refracts light and evokes chemical treated sunsets and enigmatic murky waters.

I don’t recall the name of this work, only that it is composed of many small segments of mirrors, a camera, and some backend computer which recognizes when something is in front of it (image subtraction algorithm of sorts?), then activates some motors behind the mirror segments so they “blur” your image.

Playing with some of the pieces by Random International at Pace Gallery, NYC. This one definitely uses some facial recognition algorithm, although I was able to trick it with my wadded up sweatshirt a couple of times.
