Hi! Do you have any advice for aspiring Voice Actors? ❤️
Hello! I’ll be honest, I’ve been out of the industry for a while now so my info may not be totally up to date any more. The best timeless advice I can give you is this:1) Just try to jump into it! Get yourself a mic (I started on the AT2020, but that’s a bit high end if you don’t know how deep into this you’re going to get) and just start reading for things. There are a lot of forums out there that let you audition for small indie projects, so get out there and audition for everything that seems even remotely interesting!
2) Rejection is normal, and you’re gonna experience a LOT of it when you start out (and as you continue into your career). Often times you’re just not quite what the creator had in mind for the voice, and that’s totally fine! Don’t be discouraged, keep doing your best!
3) Focus on acting over voice. I know some people thing voice acting is about what kinds of voices you can do, but I’ve found that more often than not, the people who get the role are the people who can act the part. Some VAs get bashed for having “one voice” but if they can portray the character well, who cares how many voices they can do.
Good luck out there!
