    “Shit, of course.”

“And your sister?“

     “What makes you think there’s a catch?” She shrugged at the dismissal of the mask and goes back to looking around the shop. “Mmmm, not yet. Nothing has jumped out to me. I’m not even sure what color dress I’m wearing.”

“There’s always a catch.“

“Uh, thanks.” Talia turned her back to him, to try and cover her smile. “You don’t have to. I’m used to abrupt ending of conversations.” She joked, wandering over to the small half masks. 

“Anytime.“

    “Venetian can be plain and simple, they all don’t have to be glitter and feathers.” She looked around before eyes settled on a simple black mask - far less bulky than the one before. “Like this one.”

“What’s the catch here, Lyra?“ Ethan ask, taking the mask and inspecting it before placing it back on the display stand. “I don’t like it.“

Talia smiled, and looked around. “That’s fair.” She wandered over to another black mask and put it up to her own face. “What would your Halloween look like if you got to do what you wanted?”

“You shouldn’t cover you face that much. Maybe a simple lace mask over the eyes.“ He suggested. “I would stay at home. Disconnecting the doorbell and watching old school horror movies on the largest flat screen possible.“

     “You should try one not so blocky, they always look so awkward on everyone.”

“Do you work here?“

    “I think something more Venetian and more around the eyes would work better, that one was too bulky.”

“No?“

“I think that’s the only other plain looking mask they have.”

“Unless you want to go fancy.”

“I rather... The possibilities are endless, of things I rather do than be caught attending a Golden Ridge event in fancy attire.“

Mona placed a vertical half mask in his hand. “I already told you I’m very strongly in favor of the Phantom of the Opera look.”

Ethan grunted, not making a move to try on the mask as he stared down at it.

“Smiling isn’t weird.”

“Smiling is very weird after the conversation we had.“

“I’m assuming you haven’t changed drinks since the last time I saw you.”

“I may have dance around but my palette is skill unique.“

    “Good to see you haven’t changed at all.”

Ethan grunted and continued to drink.
