“So I know you like to do your ‘I do whatever I want’ Damon thing,” Stefan spoke into the voicemail. “But I haven’t heard from you for weeks now, and last time I saw you-” Stefan had been in the hospital, shot, and Damon had made a a promise, a vow the very opposite of the eternity of misery he had once promised Stefan. Now it was a promise of protection, and then Damon was gone. He could have written it off as normal Damon behavior, but the thing was that Stefan believed him. Stefan believed IN him. Even if more then one person would say Damon didn’t deserve it. “-just,” He paused, knowing the voicemail would cut him off if he didn’t finish up. “Get back to me before I ask someone to track you down. Someone may take it as an invitation to hunt you.” Someone meaning Klaus or, more dangerously, Caroline. Hitting the red X on his phone to finish the message, Stefan sighed. It was then he noticed a pair of eyes trained on him. “That wasn’t too loud, was it?” He had hoped to keep his volume low but, as a human, things didn’t come with an off switch. That included volume. 

“Not too loud,” she answered with a soft smile, shaking her head. Caroline had been trying to handle everyone with kid gloves ever since she had had the opportunity to speak with the version of her from the future. She knew far too much now, it was overwhelming. Part of her was grateful for all of the information that she had been bestowed with and the other part of her felt this incredible sense of responsibility now that she had been burdened with this need to protect her loved ones from their various tragic fates. Stefan and Klaus in particular were of great concern to her. Unlike the rest of her friends, they never got the shot at a happy ending. Their ends were full of sacrifice and broken promises and Caroline refused to let it happen that way. She would save them both if it killed her. She refused to let either of them perish again. “I’m sure that he’s fine,” she answered, wrapping her arms around Stefan’s waist from behind, her chin settling in the crook of his neck. “You know Damon. He goes on his little sabbaticals but he always comes back.” Like a cockroach, but she wouldn’t voice that to her fiance. @moralivity​

A soft kiss is placed on her shoulder as emerald hues look to the pages spread out on the table. Knowing Caroline, she had been planning her wedding the moment she was able to walk. Klaus had already made it clear that the wedding will be what Caroline and Stefan want, and if/when they want his opinion he’ll give it. “I know I said you have free reign on all of this, but can I completely x out yellow and bright orange as colors?” He chuckles softly, moving around to get himself a drink. @eternalxbarbie​

A look of alarm almost passes over her face when he asks not to include any bright colors in the ceremony but she quickly pushes the feeling away, shaking her head as her blonde curls splay out behind her. “As if I would ever choose yellow or orange as a wedding color,” she answered, her hands quickly moving in a grabbing motion to let him silently know that she could use a drink too. “No, I was thinking something a little more classic. Maybe lavender and silver? I think the girls would all look good in lavender, don’t you?” @ofchaoticminds​

Sure, he was Earthside. But a big part of him still felt like he was in Hell, on that rack, suffering every ounce of torture he got until the last ten years - when he became the one to hand out the torture. He died. And though he was back, a part of him stayed dead. He was clean ( thanks to the shower he had taken but this was more so metaphorically ), but it was as if he could still feel the blood thick on his skin, the blood on his hands from those he tortured but even though he knew he should feel awful about it – he didn’t. He had no remorse, instead, it was relief. Relief that it wasn’t him who was on the rack anymore, that it wasn’t him who was getting picked apart over and over, just to be put back together again for round two. Relieved that for once, in those thirty years - he could give the pain rather than receive it. He was lost in his own thoughts until a tiny piece of paper was shoved into his hand, “Unless this is the winning lottery numbers, a recipe for some good pie or my brothers location, I don’t want it.” Hues look up the person that had joined him on his little stroll. @sanguishqsstarters​

The summer that Bonnie and Damon had been locked in the prison world had been a difficult one for Caroline. She’d made all manner of bad decisions, rash choices, unpredictable knee-jerk reactions. She hadn’t, however, expected one of them to walk right past her in the middle of the McKinley quad. The blonde had gotten pretty good at one night stands over those few months and Dean Winchester happened to be one of them. He was the rolling stone type, though, and she certainly hadn’t been expecting him to show back up here. Same gruff attitude accompanied his words, perhaps a little more on edge than the last time they had spoken, and she shook her head at his remarks. “A check, actually. Told you that I’d pay you back for completely ruining your shirt that night, and a Forbes girl always pays her debts.” Blue eyes gleamed at the memory, shaking her head with a laugh. “Gotta admit, wasn’t expecting to see you back here anytime soon. “So,” Stefan began. “Have you heard the big news yet? Or…” WELL in a place like McKinley where so many turned up dead did an engagement even qualify as big news? “Good news would probably be a better name.” A grin couldn’t help but bequeath him. “Great news actually.” Amazing, spectacular, earth-shaking and— was possible to be this happy? Stefan had never known it before. 

“Who, me? Nah, I think that you’ve kept me totally in the dark,” she teased, one arm wrapping around the back of his neck with a easy knowing smile playing on her lips. “I’m still getting used to the word fiance but I like the way it sounds. Almost as much as husband,” Caroline answers. It had been an odd few weeks, but if this was the result? Well, she would take the good with the bad. @moralivity​

“Me? A good influence?” He laughs as her hip bumps into his, “I think this Damon has a little more… maturing to do.” If Damon placed the time right, which he did - this was around the time that he just got back from the prison world. An easy smile came across his lips then, “Yeah, you’re right.” If his kids were here, he just wanted to see them. Tell them everything he couldn’t back home. Damon didn’t miss the way Caroline visibly lit up at the mention of Stefan, lips pulling up into a small smirk. “Together sounds good. Is distinguished another word for devilishly handsome?” He teases his sister-in-law, the joke emitting past his lips. “You’re right though. Probably shouldn’t go around freaking him out.” @eternalxbarbie​

“I said I was hoping, not counting on it,” she answered, flipping her blonde locks over one shoulder and shooting the older man a coy smile. Their relationship had grown a lot since the time period that they resided in now, and Caroline was grateful for that. Damon had changed into a man that she was able to forgive, he had forced himself to earn it from her. He was also the closest connection she had to Stefan, and that alone was enough to make him near and dear to her heart. She faked a gag at his confident response, rolling her eyes. “God, I was really hoping you’d grow out of the whole full of yourself thing eventually.” She smiled softly, nerves and anticipation filling her stomach. “I’m scared. of  all  the  stupid  goddamn  bullshit  luck  in  the  world….of  course  the  first  thing  that  would  happen  upon  getting  back  would  be  meeting  a  very  hungry  newbie  vampire.  of  course  it  would  try  to  make  a  nice  little  snack  out  of  him.  why  the  fuck  wouldn’t  it  ?  but  god,  he  just  didn’t  have  the  time  right  now  to  mediate  or  have  some  sweet  little  come  to  the  light  moment.  hence  the  greying  corpse  at  his  feet  (  god  it  was  always  so  strange  to  see  the  life  bleed  from  them  like  that  ).  poor  son  of  a  bitch.  but  he  was  on  a  mission  —-  funerals  for  the  damned  be  fucked.  without  giving  it  much  thought,  he  began  dragging  the  body  through  the  woods  —–  to  somewhere  a  little  less  inconspicuous.  he’d  kick  some  dirt  and  leaves  on  it  and  call  it  a  day.  find  his  kids.  pretend  this  obnoxious  little  detour  through  the  forests  of  mckinley  never  happened.  that  was  the  plan  at  least…..fucking  footsteps.  jesus  fucking  christ,  really  ?   a   sigh.  he  dropped  the  body.  looked  up  at  the  person  approaching.  “  yeah….this  is  exactly  what  it  looks  like.  “

Jack hadn’t flown there on PURPOSE. Though flying was a odd word for popping in and out, it was what Castiel had taught them all that time ago. It was more so— there was a memory they were thinking about, and before Jack knew it they were standing before a reminder of that memory. Even now Jack wasn’t sure of the place they popped in on, or if they were interrupting a situation. “Hello.” They said, offering a small (if not somewhat stranger) wave of their hand. 

Caroline was used to kids that she didn’t know randomly popping in and introducing themselves to her, so another one in front of her was really not much of a surprise. “Hi,” she answered, shooting them a warm smile as she beckoned for them to sit down next to her. “Should I take a shot in the dark and assume that you’re my child or is that a bit too presumptuous of me? I’m afraid to ask who your father is at this point. There are so many fathers of all my kids and I honestly was not ready for my life to take this turn.” @abominctivn​

in need of her daily dose of caffeine to start off the day before she’d leave for her shift at the hospital, the brunette was making her way through town square, and when she finally found the small coffee shop she was looking for, she hurriedly went in before stepping in line, brown hues observing the menu which was put on the wall behind the counter. it was jo’s first time in here, usually she visited a different coffee shop, one that was closer to the hospital, but having heard so many good things about it, she’d decided to give it a try. finally, once she’d shaken herself out of her amazed stupor, she turned to the person who came in behind her, an apologetic smile curving the corners of her lips upwards. “i’m sorry, i always have a hard time choosing when there are so many things on the menu.” there were too many things to choose from, making it almost impossible for the indecisive brunette to choose something in a timely manner. “would you happen to have any recommendations? a favorite, maybe?”

Stefan was still grappling with the knowledge bombs Rose had dropped upon him. He was her charge. He was supposedly a potential whitelighter, potential that Stefan could only imagine squashing with what he was willing to do to protect Caroline and Klaus. Especially if Lucien dared show his face again. Not to mention he planned to share with them of Sarah’s existence, but finding the right moment had been a rough endeavor given their busy lives. Laying eyes on Caroline, Stefan frowned, there was an air of difference about her. Though that was the same face he loved with all his heart. “Who’s Jo?” He asked. “And I mean- Lizzie’s here from the future, though I haven’t met Josie yet.” A pause, taking in her demeanor. “Are you okay Caroline?”

There were tears in her eyes the second that he came into view. It felt like some kind of cruel cosmic joke, some mirage that was standing in front of her that was far too good to possibly be true. “I can’t believe that it’s really you,” she answered, completely ignoring every question that he had posed to her. There was only limited time and she didn’t want to waste it with specifics. “I have dreamed of you walking up to me like that for twenty years.” And then it hit her. That rhythmic, tell-tale, thudding heartbeat. Horror came over her and she shook her head. “No. No.” All the air had been stolen from her lungs, and she furiously shook her head. “No, it’s too early for you to be human. I was supposed to get another six years with you. This...” Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. “This isn’t how it was supposed to go. This changes things. The twins aren’t even born yet, you can’t be human.” @moralivity​

Lizzie, Josie those were new names. Then there was Alaric who was Alaric, their previous teacher, vampire hunter, temporary guardian before he died and then came back— and then Jo. Her teacher. Had she introduced Caroline to Jo yet? Elena didn’t recall it. But then that wasn’t the only thing different about Caroline. She had a different air to her, like something so familiar yet so different. “Who are Lizzie and Josie?” She asked with concern. 

Caroline had almost forgotten what this version of Elena looked like. It was odd, seeing her so young and so not human. The vampire side of her existing was honestly something that she hadn’t thought about in years and yet here she was. “Lizzie and Josie are my daughters,” she answered, smiling softly. “Well, my surrogate daughters, but I ended up raising them with Alaric. Jo is their biological mother.” She chuckles, holding out her arm for her friend to take. “Come on, friend. We have a lot to catch up on.” @doppelgangcr​
