#antonmataeo has been stuck in the house since Sunday because 1) he had a low grade fever along with cold and congestion and 2) we had an ice storm with below freezing temperatures here in DFW that’s pretty much shut down everything. So We gave #AntonMataeo his #firsthaircut last night. He cried when he realized what we had done and wanted us to put it back. . It was time. I wanted the first cut to be on his own terms, he had warmed up to the idea, said yes but I am not sure he knew what that meant fully. . His hair had become a little to much to undertake with a rambunctious toddler. He was fighting me to wash or comb or brush and he would get knots that took forever to get out. But he had beautiful luscious Sandy brownish blonde hair and I wonder if the color will change and the texture. My cousins who had Honduran moms and German fathers hair were similar to Anton’s and theirs got darker over time. . A few weeks ago he asked me if he would still be #handsome if he got a haircut. I told him he’d be handsome with long or short, curly or wavy or straight. He said Okay Mommy. . @erikkluetz said it was sad mostly because of his reaction and he has been the biggest advocate for cutting it ever since strangers started mistaking him for a girl because of his long hair. Last weekend, I put together #AntonMataeo new #pawpatrol #bigboybed that we got from @walmart. This #milestone is bittersweet. . He immediately wanted to sleep in, “mine own bed” and fell asleep pretty quickly. While He is only a few feet from our bed, I miss our night time cuddles, but won’t miss him taking over our California king bed and kicking us off the bed. . #cosleeping has many psychological and developmental benefits for kids that I’m glad we chose to do it. He’s growing so fast and becoming more sure of himself and independent everyday. Just this morning he went potty all by himself and just called me to help him cleaning up. . #pottytraining has been extremely challenging, emotional and did I say challenging? but I was determined to let him do it on his timetable and not on anyone else’s even mine. My #babyboy is not a baby anymore! #AntonMataeo and I rarely get opportunities to take many pictures together… esp ones I’m okay with posting bc when you’re a #toddlermom you’re lucky if you make it out the door with lipstick on, bushed your teeth and your hair presentable. Today I was able to do all of it! . We had some family from New Jersey come to San Antonio, Texas we got to hang with them for a few days at this resort. and today we took them to Fredericksburg and now we are heading back home bc it’s #preschool day tomorrow. @erikkluetz was able to take this pic of us when we ran into this museum to get out of the rain! . It was super sweltering, scattered showers and a #littleboy who wanted to go into every store. Open every door and touch every Knickknacks in the stores. So we are exhausted but glad we got to spend time with that side of the Martin Family. . Last night my 2nd cousin Iris and I discovered working on our family tree on @ancestry that we are 6th/7th Grand daughters of a Captain John Issac Douglass Jr. who was a war hero during American Revolution. He lived to 94, had 11 kids and was a mayor in Philadelphia and a cabinet maker! So mind blowing. Today I decided to get my hair cut for the first time since the last time I got it cut in July 2019. They cut 6” off. I feel like I lost 10 lbs. lol! . It’s been hard to do #selfcare after having #antonmataeo and then the pandemic then my mom going into hospice and caring for her billy and Anton all at once….I haven’t had a lot of time to do anything for me. But even when I have had the time I’m just so exhausted and have no motivation to do any pampering for myself. . I think the last time I had a manicure was before I had my son too! And I really need a massage and schedule an appointment with my chiropractor to get me all back into alignment. . Putting our little boy in preschool has offered me a little down time and it’s been nice. I’m looking forward to more pampering and also catching up with friends haven’t connected with in a long while on #coffeedates as well. So #AntonMataeo has another sick day from #preschool today! . Would REALLY appreciate your prayers for his immune system to be boosted to fight off any #allergies, colds or other sicknesses that comes with the territory! I am not sure if this is a new thing or a continuation of what we dealt with last week. . With him having #reactiveairwaydisease combined with the allergies and #eczema...we are always fighting something it can be so much to deal with all day every day. Erik wonders if staying in Texas is #goidforpurhealth between the allergies and the mosquitoes those are enough to make some people leave. . He was doing so great before we took our trip to the east coast and a month later still working on clearing up his skin and minimizing the seasonal allergies with diet, supplements and creams. . Yesterday he was coughing a lot then got sick of his stomach because of all the coughing and phlegm. He has had some labored breathing and an Runny nose, sneezing and a low grade fever. Yesterday he was in good spirits today he’s a little more clingy and would not eat anything except juice. He said he has a sore throat too. #AntonMataeo has his first #sickday from #preschool on Thursday. He had a little cough, runny nose and lots of sneezing. If they have a cough they prefer they stay home #justtobesafe He was all dressed and ready to go to school. He decided that he wanted to wear his pineapple shirt he pulled it out of the closet and said this one too momma. Then We went in the back yard he played in his sand box for a bit and then the aggressive texas mosquito’s discovered we were outside so we went back inside after getting stung two or three times. . Once we were back inside he started wheezing. So I do feel like it’s was #allergies, I just was looking at my memories and he was sick this way last year and thankfully we didn’t have to make a trip to urgent care this year. . I’ve been treating his symptoms with my normal homeopathic regimen and supplements also giving him nebulizing treatments which have kept this thing in check. Ragweed was really high and he was around cats and dogs this week. Could be a combination of a cold and allergies but he’s on the mend and looking forward to taking on the week! . Even a stuffy nose and little cough couldn’t stop this kid, he was running and playing, singing and dancing all day long.
