Rose is an installation piece consisting of three projections, plexiglass, and two speakers outputting low frequencies sine waves of 7 hertz. Each projector is setup with a plexiglass structure refracting light into all corners of the gallery space. Each projector is playing a loop of fluctuating shades and movements of green light. The speakers are pumping 7 hertz sine waves, commonly used in mediations. The choice of green light comes after experiments on long term exposures to various colors on the cones of ones eyes. It was found that green increased the amount of detail seen, specifically on ones body, and also was the most calming to look at.
The piece gets its name from the aftereffects of the green light. The over-saturation of green on the eyes causes the viewer to view white as pink (red or orange depending on the lighting conditions) after leaving the room of all green. It was also reported that viewers could no longer see the color green in the outside world. These side effects would last a 1:1 ratio of time spent (a minute for every minute) inside the green space.Â
