and when she loves, she loves hard; you could give her a bouquet of dying flowers and watch them spring to beauty in her arms—
she loves to the point of revival.
— K.M.K.
I want ideas to hit me like a raging truck and leave me bleeding sonnets. Each word a clog in my lungs, each breathe an invocation. I never want to run out of prose, I need my pain spilled on paper. Otherwise, I’d be forced to wrap these hands— otherwise, I’d believe my father was right when he said I am not good enough.

you held my rage with a tenderness that no one else before you did and it felt like peeking through a haunted house half expecting to see a ghost of all the monstrosities I ever said goodbye to but instead I find you singing to a wildflower that bloomed in the cracks of dilapidated walls. — K.M.K.

how’s that house that raised you?
I have stitched to myself an ungodly number of wings but I never came close to flying. Instead, I was left with broken feathers, that are stuck on my ribs until they are spoiled and rotten. Here, my body is a ticking bomb, far from burning in the sun, but what a privilege to be near its glimmer. I guess this must be what Icarus felt when he flew to the sky with reckless abandon. If only to get close;
If only to get close. I'm a sullen chrysalis living in the skin of a life unmade and I cannot settle for dreaming— I cannot be content lest my hands would not feel what my mind has always held.
— K.M.K.
When I was nineteen, I was a sun pouring all its light to a black hole, like somehow hoping to break the laws of physics and form a massive galactic miracle.
I stared right at catastrophe through rose-colored glasses, dismissed the infinite stop signs from the universe, and looked at every explosion as gaseous effervescence when really, I was face to face with apocalypse.
I cruised through the darkness and vastness of space, seen millions of planets collapse and watched dead stars parade. That’s where I’m headed, I thought to myself—
So at twenty-nine, I blasted off from space, like a fireball waiting to fall on my knees. I was ready for destruction and to completely vanish. But instead of crashing down,
I softly landed. — K.M.K.
perhaps everything in me was made for everything in you, like the dip of my neck where your face finely fits; my bones recognized yours the first time you held me, when you filled the desolated spot in my chest. there's a parting in your lips that my mouth could cover where it feels like magic and tastes like healing; my heart beats your name as naturally as breathing— as immanent as the heavenly bodies that aligned for us to meet. — K.M.K.

nevermind all the sad poems I wrote before you came— I'd do just fine without them now that you are here.
— K.M.K
come here. come bring your baggage and we’ll unpack them together. this house is an evolving space. the interior, we will rearrange. you can pick the furniture and paint the walls. I will fill the yard with Daisies and dedicate you all their colors. come here. be the sunlight and the rain. come sit on the floor with me and we’ll share the mundane. or we could climb to the roof. watch the stars parade. you can wrap me in your steady bones where I’ll be safe to dream. and you can breathe out. you can shelve your fears. the doors will be locked but I’ll hand you the keys. this house will be warm even through the unknown. so come rest your heart now—because you are home.
