Yeah, So I came back to this shit in my MM inbox and Iâm kind of grossed out by it. The above image was the one I was talking about when I told him Iâm not ok with it.
Do me a favor, if youâre in Oklahoma and this dickweed contacts you? Donât fucking shoot with him. And make it 100% explicitly clear that you refuse to work with him because of this image.
As a side note: When I said âwe donât do thatâ referring to my tribes and the practices he talked about, I actually meant three things: 1. I donât have any services for my tribes (that I know of) near me to practice these even if we did; 2. I donât know whether or not a couple of them are practices we do (again, no local resources); and 3. If we do, I wasnât trained to do them therefore I wonât do them because Iâm not trained/ have not been taught the particular methods of my tribes (Resources. Limited).
I probably should have explained that better in my response but it was kind of a knee jerk reaction of "did you seriously just fucking say that shit??????"
He blocked me after the last response of his, but before I figured that out I had originally responded with, basically, telling him if he even fucking comes near me Iâll file a restraining order and press charges for harassment.
I donât know if the warbonnet is authentic or not (it looks costumized to me, but sometimes you canât tell in pictures and Iâm unfamiliar with Lakota Warbonnet styles as theyâre not one of my tribes.Â
I also donât know if the woman is actually white, so I probably shouldnât have said white⌠Who knows, maybe sheâs white-passing like I am. All I know is that I donât know and to me, personally, itâs not worth chancing it because I donât want to be associated with that shit in any manner.
Either way, legitimately, it disturbs me that this guy is in my area- on top of being in my area and what I feel is attempting to threaten me.
Like.. I get it, youâre native, Iâm native⌠Your tribe uses warbonnets, and so do two of mine; You (apparently) donât think itâs offensive or racist for a (potentially) non-native woman to wear a sacred item (costumized or real) that is traditionally only given to males (and which there are VERY FEW recorded instances of women receiving them- even in modern day) and your âfamily commissioned the pictureâ; I think thereâs an issue with it, I think itâs racist, I think itâs a gross picture, etc- enough so that I refused to work with you while you were in my local area because I donât want to risk the associations, especially not if itâs proven that all of your claims are 100% false.
Chalk it up to differences in perspective, chalk it up to tribal cultural differences. Whatever.Â
But donât you dare try to play the NDN cred pissing contest and threaten me because I refuse to play your fucking games and will not âauthenticateâ myself as a Native American woman just so that you can have some sense of moral superiority and feel justified in the bastardization of an item- an act I refuse to participate in or be associated with in any form. Especially not when you are supposedly representing your fucking tribe and this is your behavior towards me.
