Ā Ā The smile that graced Laurentās face when he spotted her was a comfort, and Lucina felt warmth trickle down her spine and into her cheeks at the sight of it. He was, as always, a sight that brought peace to her heart.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āAh, of course! As much as I would like to steal you away, it certainly isnāt practical⦠but no matter, I can lend a hand, as well! Perhaps I can help you finish more quickly so we can have some private time before the supper call, no?ā
Ā Ā She smiled widely as she fell into step with him, and in a bold move, gently laced her fingers with his, her heart fluttering in her chest.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āIāve missed you so much. It was only a week, but it felt terribly long. Itās good to be back. I canāt wait to show you what Iāve brought you, I just know youāre going to love it.ā
Pink colored his face at her touch. Ā She was right. Ā Even a week away from her had felt like too long, though they had only just declared their relationship. Ā Gently, he gave her hand a squeeze. Ā It was a new sensation unlike a simple touch, that made his heart quicken its pace. Ā He felt strangely delirious, but in a nice way.
āI concur,ā he replied. Ā āCamp has felt... strangely empty without your presence. Ā Pardon if this somehow unnerves you, but... It felt as if time stood still. Ā Iāll... not go into detail if youād rather I didnāt. Ā Regardless, Iām thankful youāve returned and I must admit Iām tingling with anticipation over what youāve returned with.ā
He glanced down at her, still flushed. Ā It was a bit past noon, and the sun shone in her hair in a way Laurent knew heād seen before, but felt as if he were only being struck by its beauty for the first time. Ā This contradicting thought was dizzying, as was the urge to press his lips to her blue locks.
Doing his best to place those thoughts into a box for further use, he and Lucina made the short trek to storage, where Laurent needed to fully recount what theyād need for his scheduled requisition trip. Ā Counting things was the easiest thing to do with his head swimming in distractions, he felt, so Lucina wouldnāt inhibit him in the slightest.
He just did not want to let go of her hand.
