heartstopper s3 might be the first teen series I watched that portrays sex not as this ‘bad’, ‘naughty’ thing with adult aesthetics and traumatic plot points, but as an important, emotional act that revolves around mutual love and respect. in my opinion this is exactly why it’s such a revolutionary piece of media that I (as a queer nearing 30) enjoy rewatching endlessly because I never had something like it before.

“what if kids identify with something and it ends up just being a phase-?” good. stop teaching and expecting kids (and adults honestly) to formulate permanent traits and ideas of themselves. everything in life is a phase. that doesn’t make it any less legitimate while you experience it. let people explore themselves and know it’s okay if what you think about yourself changes.
