I think Ren would occasionally do self-harm after Strade's death. Sometimes when looking for a weird sense of comfort being all alone in the empty house, or when masturbating. At times it seems he just can't get off without the pain and memories of Strade's abuse, and he hates himself for that.

Not sure whether he'd deliberately reopen scars done by Strade as a means of feeling "closer" to him, or avoid them as to not "ruin his work".
