The Real Junk Food Project’s ‘Pay As You Feel’ flagship cafe in Armley (Leeds) intercepts edible food destined for landfill from supermarkets, restaurants and market stalls across the city. Instead of going to waste, this food is used to feed hundreds of people every week - many of whom struggle to feed themselves and their families.
However, the cafe is now under threat of closure, with the landlord putting the Armley premises up for sale. Owner Adam Smith has launched a fundraising campaign to ‪#‎saveyourcafe‬, and a collective of Leeds based musicians have decided they want to help. Real Junk Food Recordings is a collaborative album to be released later this month. Just like the cafe, tracks can be bought on a pay as you feel basis and every penny will be donated to the Armley ‪#‎PAYF‬ cafe.
