“And I’m just supposed to believe you?”

Joe knew about The Flash and the fact that there were other metas out there, so it wasn’t a completely crazy scenario when it was brought up. Barry eyed Eddie. “That IS the explanation.” He informed the detective. “Look, there’s no other plausible reason for this to have happened the way it did. Again, the video evidence wasn’t tempered with, that’s the only thing we have to go on unless I find something you might have looked over in the files.” Why was that so hard to believe?

“That’s what you seem to think,” he said, stopping in his tracks, hands slowly lifting as he turned to face the other, “But I think I have a few more tricks up my sleeve.”

     Was there a reason that Eddie was chuckling to himself? It couldn’t have been because of Barry’s comment… Oh well, he just let it slide, one tiny little thing against what he’d thrown at the detective.  Barry accepted his coffee as well, asking Joe for some sugar and stirring it up really well. Joe shook his head at Eddie’s question. “Nah, I got nothing. It’s like there’s something missing but I don’t know what it could be.”      Taking a long sip of his coffee, Barry finally put the cup down and glanced at Eddie. “Have you tried looking for SOMEONE and not SOMETHING?”  The question sounded casual, but Barry already knew who the someone they were looking for was. “You saw the lightning in the videos, right? Didn’t you think it was weird that there was no storms or anything when it happened?” 

Eddie had heard Iris talk about strange things happened in the city. How there was a streak running around saving people and that it was real. Eddie was still unsure in all honesty, he knew that something was off. That after the explosion that there was something going on that no one would get him up to speed.

Walking with Joe to the table, he let the other two sit down first. Barry then took off his jacket and slung it across the back of the booth, for there was no one sitting behind them. He deliberately slid into the seat next to Eddie without a word and when the waitress arrived, he waited until the other ordered first. He didn’t want to make it too obvious that he was about to make a show.        “I’ll take a coffee and two full stacks please. Oh, and an orange juice.” He smiled at the waitress who nodded. “Can you make sure we get this one the freshest coffee you have? He’s feeling a little CRANKY.” 

Eddie ordered his usual, a cup of coffee and some French toast. He figured that Barry would make some sort of comment, like he had pretty much the entire time they had been together that night. And at this point it was just getting on his nerves.

At the comment of him being cranky, Eddie rolled his eyes and mentally made the remark to himself. 'Sure you don't need a kid's menu Allen, because you're sure acting like a child.' He knew better than to voice it, but he did find it pretty humorous on his own.

Barry was practically out of the car the second Eddie had stopped, moving quickly toward the double doors of the restaurant. “Oops, SORRY.” He accidentally opened the door too quickly and almost hit Eddie with it. Now, violence wasn’t the answer BUT that was kind of perfect. “Go ahead.” He waved the detective in the door as he waited for Joe who was coming up behind  the blonde man. 

“Thanks, PAL.” Barry reached up and clapped Eddie on the shoulder, causing Joe to turn around and smile at Barry. The speedster then sat back in the seat and rode the rest of the way in silence, stewing, coming up with the next part of the plan to drive Eddie away from Iris and maybe even Central City. He knew it was petty, maybe even a bit evil but he didn’t care! That was HIS life that the detective was basically leading… 

His plan was working, Eddie was as tense as he could be already. Barry was snickering to himself in the backseat while Joe took control of the radio. Eddie knew he didn’t like what he listened to. “Great.” Joe chimed in as he found a station with music from the 70′s on it.       Barry could see Eddie’s hands, the white of his knuckles. Oh, this was too good. “Hey Eddie, can you turn the heat up a little? I can’t feel it back here.” He informed the other, just one more thing to pile on the annoyances. There was going to be nothing lowkey about this torture. 

He knew what Barry was trying to do. He was just trying to piss him off. Why, he didn't know. He didn't understand what he did to make Barry hate him so much but it was getting under his skin really fast.

“Yeah, I think you and I both know that’s not true.” How long it had been since anyone last saw him was enough to entertain the idea that he was dead, and…some missing people take months for their bodies to be found, even when there disappearance wasn’t due to foul play. “You know what? If you have nothing, that’s fine, if he’s not a priority, whatever, but don’t bullshit me into thinking anything else.”

Oh, Barry was PROUD of that one. It had definitely set Eddie off. He would laugh about it later, in his lab, alone. Joe was honestly the perfect person to have with them right now. Barry could get away with just about anything and Eddie couldn’t do anything about it.       Barry got into the back seat, behind Eddie and Joe took the passenger seat. “Denny’s sounds fine.” Joe agreed but Barry had other plans. “Ihop is open, you like their sausage links better.” He suggested and gave Eddie an innocent look in the mirror. Oh, he was acting like a ten year old, but he was more than satisfied with that. “Bear, you know me all too well.” Joe replied happily. “Sound good to you, Eddie?” The older man asked his partner, not exactly knowing what was going on between the blonde and Barry OTHER than them bickering like children. 

Eddie wanted to be immature and argue back, to let it be known that Barry was getting under his skin. But he needed Joe to like him, he needed to stay on his good side if he wanted things to work out with Iris. If she found out that he was arguing with Barry over something so minimal, he was pretty sure it would end up in a disagreement between the two.

No kidding? Barry wanted to make a retort but Joe was there and he thought better of it. For the moment, that was. He had his brown canvas jacket already on, ready to go so he turned on his heel and started toward the elevators.      Once they were outside of the precinct, Barry turned to Eddie, looked him dead in the eyes and asked him the following: “So, where do you feel like eating, EDWIN?” The was completely straight faced as Joe gave him a strange glance but shrugged it off, probably thinking that it was the lack of sleep getting to Barry - - - or even the outcry of his astronomical caloric intake. 

Eddie sent a look to Barry showing that he was certainly not happy about being called the wrong name. He wanted to retort, but knew that Joe wouldn’t appreciate his partner fighting with his son. Instead he had to bite his tongue and just take it, despite the fact that he was very much not happy with the CSI.
