“If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”
“If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”
Mother Teresa
Imagine a world where there is no hunger, a world where every man, woman, and child has equal access to food. What if I told you that we have the power to accomplish food security and eradicate hunger?
Did you know that our world has enough resources to feed every man, woman, and child on our earth. Famine is man made, we caused this problem and we have the power to change it.
The Hunger and Agriculture Griot course has inspired me to use my voice as an agent for change. As a Griot for ONE and the WFP I am working with people from all over the world to fight hunger. The Griot course has filled me with education, knowledge, and most importantly motivation to advocate against hunger.
This course is creating change all around the world. Together we have the power to achieve great change and make a difference. In the first week in the course my fellow griots and I wrote to and called senators from all around the nation. We asked our Senators to vote in favor of foreign aid.
You too can join us in contacting your political representatives by following these three steps:
Determine who your Senators are and who your Representative is at www.house.gov and www.senate.gov
Research your Senators and your Representative to see what their interests are so that you can tailor your arguments to resonate with them.
Email them, call them, and/or write them a letter in favor of foreign aid assistance.
We can all do our part in fighting hunger and ensuring food security. As the quote in the beginning of this blog entry notes: ‘If you cannot feed a hundred people, just feed one’. Because in the end we can all reach more than a hundred people combined if we unite as one.
