she waits for her turn to use the prefect bathroom every morning. she queues for her snacks during quidditch matches. she let fifth years give her excuses when theyāre clearly the troublemakers. she volunteers to stay in the hogwartsā express until everyone had left to make sure thereās nothing left behind. heckāshe lets late students to take her breakfast because there was none left in the table.
but when it comes to prefect duties, some people can be really curious to see how far she will bend. for example, a particular sixth year gryffindor namely xu cain.Ā
just now, joohyun was ready to drop her bag on one of the benches and eat her dayās frustration away when a loud popping sound startled her from her seat. to say that the incident was an embarrassing one would be an understatementāshe had accidentally let out an undignified squeak that reverberated through the entire main hall, effectively attracting every pair of eyes towards her flustered self. there was a brief moment of silence before an obnoxious laughter followed, exposing the person behind all of this.

he doesnāt intend to give himself away when his plan goes accordingly, but he still fails to stifle the giggle thatās caught behind his lips when she yelps in surprise. before he even realises whatās happening, she has her wand out and begins running towards him even as heās crouched under the table, and oh fuck. his eyes widen and he tumbles out, effectively causing a ruckus, darting out of the hall as fast as he can before joohyun manages to catch him.
even as he runs away from her, weaving in and out of the hallways, he canāt help the laughter that trails behind him from the pure exhilaration. he ducks behind a pillar, wide grin spread across his features as he peers out in glee.Ā ā cāmon, joohyun. you wouldnāt dare to harm a single hair on my head, ā he calls out, ready to take off again in case she really decides to jinx him ( he really doesnāt think so ).
when he notices her gaining speed, he bolts, but not before hollering over his shoulder, ā you love me way too much to do that! āĀ

usually, even he would be slightly concerned with being caught this late out when the moon already hangs high in the sky, but honestly, now he could care less. while cain had never been a heavyweight when it came to drinking, heād made his way through bottles of the drowsy liquid and could barely count his fingers, let alone walk.Ā
itās why when he makes a futile attempt at sneaking through the hallways as quietly as a drunken person possibly can, he fails instantaneously as he almost crashes into a pillar, feet taking careless steps in front of each other. he barely manages to regain his balance and stumbles and falls, an audible thumpĀ resounding as his entire body collides with the polished wooden floorboards. thatās all it takes to shatter any ounce of self-control he has left - and itās definitely not from the fall.
