Oh man I drew him again. This is Tag, aka Gunmetal, a Transformers OC of mine
Since I yapped about him a lot in the last post (that was yesterday? idk don't plan for me to post regularly), I'll put in a slightly cleaned up version of my notes of his and Prowl's relationship. This would probably be set early into whatever narrative Tag is a part of, but after he's been forced to graduate and actually become a police rookie. By this point, Tag and Prowl have gotten to know each other more and have fallen into a rhythm when working together.
Tag hated Prowl from the moment they met, he could never admit that Prowl has started to grow on him. He won't respect his authority and his ordering Tag around, and he won't appreciate his talent in detective work. Everything Prowl does makes Tag angry. It's even worse that half the cops in the precinct think that Tag is a min-Prowl. They're so fundamentally different, how could the others even think that?! Prowl is such a wheeljack-ass (my attempt at a Cybertronian version of curse words lmao. no hate to Wheeljack the character), at least Tag isn't actively a glitch to everyone for no reason. Either way, even if Tag doesn't find Prowl as unbearable as he used to, he won't admit it, even to himself.
Prowl is well-aware that when they both shut up and get to work, that he and "Tag" make an efficient and capable pair. They work so fluidly, as if they were extensions of each-other. Jazz likes to joke, saying that Tag is a mini-Prowl, and he sees it. His brash nature yet natural skill, Prowl understands that it's like looking in a mirror. Sort of. The kid still has these unrealistic dreams of being an artist. On Cybertron? What use does that serve to society? If he doesn't stick to his function, then what use is he to Cybertron as a whole. Prowl telling himself this makes it a bit easier (as if it was really hard for him to begin with, Prowl is a prick after all) when he goes to Chromedome to ask for a favor. He wants to be a nmeosurgeon, why not get some practice. Get some info out of Tag that will help them with taking control of Iacon's underside.
Oh man I still yapped a lot, my bad gang. I'm bad at not talking too much.
Also I want to specify, Prowl and Tag are not meant to be a couple or shipped in any way. If anything, all the other characters in Tag's life are different variations of parental/mentor figure or sibling figure or coworker figure, etc. Tag and Prowl's relationship is more like... I'm struggling to find an example so I'll just explain it.
Basically: Prowl doesn't like Tag, really at all. He can appreciate Tag's skill in different aspects of police work, but the kid could be gone tomorrow and Prowl wouldn't really care (Tag is the same). All this, except because of Tag's knowledge of the under streets of Iacon and the more legally dubious actions of the bots living there, weather they just be avoiding their functions (jobs) or committing crimes, Prowl feels Tag might be useful to him.
Prowl realizes that if he stops being a completely dickish mentor to Tag, that maybe he can convince the kid to act the way he's supposed to. And along the way, he can get into Tag's mind and pull out all the information that he needs to get Iacon running completely smoothly from top to bottom. Force the kid to turn on the people he wants to help without his even realizing it. So while Prowl is still a prick, he's pivoted from wanting Tag to just shut up and do his job to "maybe I could benefit from this" and acts a bit nicer. He mainly has Chromedome and Jazz do the "be nicer" part though.
My interpretation of Prowl, for this universe, is that he's obsessed with making Cybertron as lawful and orderly as he can, but not in a fun "I want to help everyone and destroy everything evil!" sort of way. More in a "Everyone needs to do what they were forged or constructed to do, because that is the only way Cybertron can function to it's maximum efficiency. If everyone acts like a gear, then the machine of Cybertron continues to work. If someone doesn't function the way they were designed to or are missing all together, then they need to either be put back in their place or demolished completely."
