prompt: the taste of death
the taste of death was sweet, sweet release
as i finally let go of the very thing that is holding me back
the surroundings were filled with a sundae of emotions
the cherry on top was the people that stopped by
the taste of death was sour, sour lemonade
as i observed them blindly giving love to my lifeless body
the empty shell ricocheting their overdue affection
as it lay cold and still, perfectly sculpted to my features
the taste of death was salty, salty tears
crocodileâs and humanâs muddled in the brine
but iâm positive that the drizzle on my cheek is the latter
as i bid farewell to peace, to what i once was
the taste of death was warm, warm coffee
hopefully, they continue tradition of guarding the casket
staying up all night, savouring the last moments before the shovel
as i cannot stay much longer to know for sure
the taste of death was bitter, bittersweet resurrection
as i turned around to reach the light, my light
clutching my new identity, the only shield of the people dear to me
restarting my existence, a dangerous dream of duty
