The idea of Final Judgement was not present in the thought of our ancestors, for, according to their cyclical conception of the cosmos, time and life would never come to an end. They would, instead, be constantly renovated through a process of creation and destruction. For my Tarot, to paint a card equivalent to Judgement I used the concept of Tlayectiliztli, "Embellishment", a name given to a ceremony in which a priestess of Tlazolteotl, Lady of Filth, ruler of vice and wrongdoing, ritually ate the impurity of a person's heart, cleansing their spirit. Most penitents held this ceremony when their death approached, so the character of my card appears in the form of a funerary bundle.
