Updike– No, Gabriel, ran through the darkened alleyways in a panic, the impossibly quick beast practically nipping his heels with how close behind it was. But he wouldn't stop; he couldn't. If he did, then that thing would certainly... C-certainly... No time to think about that. Just had to keep running.

Eventually, he managed to escape the anomaly, hiding in the abandoned building he had been forced to call home. The light from his phone did provids a small bit of comfort, though. The only reason it was still even on was because of his own anomalous abilities.

It had been a year and a half since the world had been plunged into darkness, since the sun set and never rose. And It had been a year since those beasts had began to roam the earth, hunting down every human they could find.
