It's Under/Source's 9th Anniversary! 💜

And since it's been ever so long since I drew Maestro in anything dress-like, I fixed that!

I absolutely love working on Under/Source and playing with my little blorbos, the fact that I'm still here and still so committed is a big personal joy and accomplishment for me. I still have so much more I want to do and create, I can't wait to find the confidence to actually do them SDGKLJSH

SCIENCEPEOPLES HOW WE FEELIN??!??

I've written a lot of Undertale-styled-AU and Else-World material in my time. When exploring the world of the Underground in those stories, I have always strived to make it feel as full and lived-in and populated as I could.

I would add new areas, off-shoots of existing ones, reinterpret the ones we already know, and explore the potential that new places have to offer. I did this (as a chronic world-builder) because despite my love for and the charm inherent to Undertale's world, I felt it was always lacking in depth at times, like it was one of those cardboard facades on old movie sets. Charming, but in need of more attention. Like an undercooked or under-served character in its own right.

To find that this was intentional, that it was a means to share his world and characters with the fans, to inspire them to creativity... It's no wonder that Undertale became the fandom juggernaut that it did. That love for sharing in the creative process. Not just making something cool, but putting a pencil in your hand and saying, "Now you do it".

That's Toby's Secret Sauce. For all the witty comedy, interesting characters, and heartfelt storytelling, the best thing a story can do is inspire others to creativity. That's why Gerson hits so hard in Chapter 4, Toby is telling us that everyone has a story to tell, and for all the talk of apocalypse and the worries of life, so long as people still tell stories, we're not without hope.

Here we are! Back again! :D
