In which Kamek is a good parent. uwu
Since I had a full-on post describing Kamek’s relationship with Bowser, I figured a miniature comic would be a great idea to showcase what his relationship with Bowsette’s like!
Kamek is, fullstop, the dad figure in both siblings’ lives. They call him Ba and not their own blood father, something that really gets under Bruce’s scales (even if he won’t admit it).
Bowsette has a better relationship with her parents than her brother does, but it isn’t by much. It’s largely why she calls them “ma” and “pa”, whereas Bowser can’t even bring himself to say that much. Even still, Bowsette isn’t blind, and this is probably one of the instances as a child that it fully registers who she feels safest with. After this night, Bowsette stopped going to her parents altogether and just goes straight for Kamek or Bowser when she needed comfort.
FUNFACT:
Kamek calls Bowsette “his little Firefly”. It’s mostly because, as a baby, she had the tendency to light things on fire on accident with her breath (particularly when she sneezed), but it’s also a reference to her bright hair. Kamek still uses “Firefly” even to this day, something Bowsette unabashedly eats up.
In a similar vein, Kamek doesn’t have a legitimate nickname for Bowser but he does call him “son” a lot. :)
