Hades started to stir. And he was grumpy. Before he even opened his eyes, he was grumpy. Even with them closed, the sun was too bright.Β
βHow βbout I donβt?β He mumbled before rolling over and putting the pillow over his head. Fresh coffee or not, he was notΒ ready for it to be morning yet and he needed it to go away. It had taken him a while fall asleep, and he wasnβt sure if it was because of the couch or because heβd grownΒ accustomed to having someone next to him.
He was sore. Heβd ended up sleeping on his neck funny, and now it was stiff. Stupid useless fucking human bodyβ¦Β The limitations of his human form was a downside to life on campus compared to the underworld. But, in all fairness, it was probably the onlyΒ downside.Β He briefly considered the possibility of cancelling class for the day. But even with the extra few moments with his head under the pillow, morning was still there and it wasnβt going away. He let out a sigh and finally managed to get up to a sitting position. He looked and felt about as dead as the souls swimming in the river styx.Β
ββ¦Coffee?β he asked, almost certain he had heard his wife say something about that. He spotted the mug next to him. He held the it with one hand while the other rubbed at his sore muscles in an attempt to lessen the achiness.Β
&&.Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β he was in one of his moods . . she could feel it.Β β hades . .Β β she softly called out to him again watching him stir on the small . . uncomfortable couch. each movement he made . . there was a creak followed by other noises a couch shouldnβt make. perhaps . . all the times heβd been sent to sleep on the piece of furniture was finally catching up in the form of wear and tear.Β β youβre being such a child . .Β β she rolled her eyes while pulling another pillow over, hitting his covered head with it. of course . . her putting in effort to apologize was falling on deaf ears.Β β fine . . stay asleep , i donβt care.Β β she crossed her legs then . . her arms as she found herself not so subtly pouting.Β
after another moment of silence, she heard him finally speak as he pulled himself up from the laying position. glancing over . . she had to do a double take as she took in his rigid appearance.Β β oh my . .Β β she whispered while holding back a laugh.Β β you look terrible.Β β she finally uttered while letting out a stifled laugh that she covered with a soft cough.Β β yes . . mhm . . coffee, made just the way you like.Β β she cleared her throat while handing him the mug.Β β i may or may not be inclined to prepare breakfast too . . depends on if youβre nice to me.Β β she murmured while moving his hand away from his neck . . only to replace it with her own, softly massaging the knots from a bad nights sleep away.Β β lessons begin in a few hours . . would you like to get into our bed ? i feel . . a little guilty about last evening. especially with you . . actually trying to show you care a little.Β β

flowers sat in ash and ironically it was the same look that was left after hades had a fit of rage. there was no difference once again, it only infuriated bruce more. βyou make it seem like itβs so easy. iveβ¦weβve been trying my whole life to control this and it fails every time.β he sighed knowing that maybe the underworld was just where he belonged after all. βall i do is try to talk it down but it only makes it worse.β he explained. she was so patient and kind, it helped at times with him but as he grew the control didnβt and he was still always having his fits. βbut i could. i could lose control so bad that i donβt know what im doing. get so angry that the fire in me burns too hotβ¦just look at hades. look where his anger gets him.β bruce sat on the ground and shrugged with a heavy sigh.Β βthe girlβ¦the one i was meetingβ¦ what if.β he choked on the words.Β βi just want to do it right.β he mumbles, even around his mother the thought of being soft shook him slightly.Β βespecially with who and what she is, i have to make sure us together will even work if i can just end up hurting her.βΒ
&&.Β Β Β Β Β β bruce . .Β β she calmly spoke while continuing to pick up small pieces of shattered clay.Β β i make it look easy . . because for me itβs second nature.Β β she explained.Β β but you are half of me . . and i donβt expect you to pick it up instantly. it takes time and weβve got plenty of that seedling . .Β β she reassured. persephone knew how much damage things like this ended up having on her son. he wanted to be more like her . . yet he was a younger hades entirely. there was apart of her that envied hades . . apart of her that might resent him as well. bruce was her child . . her everything. she was the one that prayed constantly for the gift of life in the form of him . . day in and day out she waited in the dirt of the underworld waiting for a sign that her seeds would bring life . . only for him to become the man that barely raised him. talk about misfortune.Β β i know you try sweetheart . . i know iβve seen your effort but believe me when i say they are never in vain. the gods will bless you for trying . . even if you fall short of your greatness.Β β she felt her features shift as he continued to speak . . speaking of his deepest fears of hurting someone . . hurting the girl he held the deepest of feelings for.Β furrowing her brows she lightly took his hand giving it a soft squeeze as she thought about her next question.Β β do you think . . that this young lady would leave your side if you hurt her ? really think about it before you answer.Β βΒ
πππππ.
Β bruce rolled his eyes.Β βyouβre soβ¦aggravating, callista.β he said never daring call zeus anything than what he was. a big headed oaf just like hercules and the rest of the gods sucking it up in olympus.Β βyou sit there and tell me that im welcome? then where where they? leaving my mother locked away down there? not only has no one welcomed me to olympus but they never tried to get me from the underworld. but noβ¦i was left with my father.β he scolded her.Β βand i call them what they are. papa zeus being the biggest of all. when she didnβt have a reason on why no one spoke to him he nodded. it was easier said then done.Β βi donβt come with her because i donβt want to sit there awkwardly being stared at for what i am. and donβt sit there and say they have open arms for death and darkness. the only reason they like you is because you are the daughter of golden boy. the son of the big man. and im the making of the one who tried to destroy it. no one wants me there. and hercules was the reason my fatherβs plan was going to fail, obviously anyone would have killed him.β to bruce the one thing hades did that he always agreed with was try to kill hercules and claim what should have been his. he leaned close to his cousin and gave her a wicked grin.Β βohβ¦calista, i donβt give a shit about the rulesβ¦besides, speaking to the dead isnβt a power, itβs just something im cursed with. and just like you i canβt get rid of them. so, i might as well use them while i can, tell them i will bring them back if they do me a few favorsβ¦β only there is no coming backβ¦ it was all a lie to get what he wanted.Β
&&.Β Β Β Β Β β youβre the aggravating one . . stupid.Β β she muttered while glowering at him. sucking her teeth , she waved her hands at him trying to dismiss his words.Β β you know youβre welcomed . . have you ever heard anyone ban you ? no. as for why your mom was left down there . . i donβt know. thatβs not my tale to speak of and you know that. ask her !Β β she said matter of factly.Β β we donβt go down there unless we plan on staying long term . . you know that . . and you know iβm forbidden or iβd come get you myself.Β β hearing his anger towards the gods made her blood boil . . her ears turned a scarlet red as she wiped the smile off her features. she was just about to defend her grandfather . . when a streak of lightening lit up the sky, following a loud booming thunder that shook her where she stood.Β β you just love pissing him off . .Β β she whispered looking up at the sky knowing if anything . . she was safe. calista sighed as she listened to him . . apart of her feeling awful that he ever felt like he wasnβt accepted up where the rest of the gods and goddesses reigned.Β β bruce . . first of all, iβm sorry . i canβt speak for everyone up there, but i can apologize for myself.Β β she pursed her lips.Β β you canβt blame me for how the others feel though . . especially my father. itβs not right what hades did, even you know it .Β β she took a small step back as he slipped forward making her recoil some.Β β d-donβt do that . .Β β she swallowed hard knowing she couldnβt possibly defend herself with her own strength . . she was just like any other mortal here to an extent.Β
ππππππππ.
βOf course not, I just wanted to see you. Why canβt a mother see her daughter, did you not want me to be here or somethingβ Rapunzel saidΒ
&&.Β Β Β Β haven had to keep the nervousness off her face as she swallowed hard.Β β no . . i-i mean yes ! i wanted to see you again . . just wasnβt expecting it to be this soonΒ β she rambled softly while biting her lower lip.Β β was father coming too ?Β β she asked, slightly hopeful.Β β sorry . . if i seem in a rush i have lines to go over.Β β she fibbed through her teeth . . she just wanted to finally reunite with her . . friend . . if she could call bruce that.Β

the sun rays beat down on him as he finished up his jog - sweat beading on his brow. he reaches up to take out his earphones, stopping in the courtyard to stretch for a moment and cool down from the work out. As he stops he gazes around him, a small smile on his face. It is times like these that he really appreciates the world around him and the ability for him to live in it, even if it was at a school where he spent most of his time grading. Turning to the first person who comes next to him he speaks happily,Β βbeautiful day isnβt it?β // @drearwoodmembersβ
&&.Β Β Β Β Β Β the weather was beautiful . . so beautiful that belle had decided to spend the day on the lawn with a few books ( if you wanted to call five or six large books a few . . ) and a picnic basket of snacks to keep her hunger low through the day. as she picked up the first novel she opened the hard cover, carefully to not bend the binder. within an hour she was placing the book down, completely finished. just as she opened the second book . . she heard the familiar voice making her smile.Β β it was beautiful before . . but the view now is quite breathtakingΒ β she grinned as she called back out to her husband.Β

βim sure they areβ¦ though, iβve never come across anyoneβs food who could do that to me so if itβs true then iβd be impressed.β he simply βyouβre really going to hit me with that overused lie to get people to move on? im hurt that im not worth a little more effort to lie to honestly. but im fine is what i tell my mother when i want her off my back, learn something better.β he simply said with a shrug before he turned a bit, he looked away from her and shrugged.Β βbesides, itβs obvious even to me, the last time i saw you i thought you were going to beam a laser of optimism through me and nowβ¦ well, you just seem blue.β bruce definitely fed off the emotion well. any upset royal was a good use for him.Β βdonβt tell me or doβ¦ i think my curiosity quickly was lost.βΒ
&&.Β Β Β Β Β β maybe . . you should let me put my mamaβs cookinβ to the test . . never know what itβs capable of until you try.Β β once again . . candice tried her hardest to smile brightly . . but that subtle twinkle still never reached her eyes like it usually did. as bruce seemingly saw through her like a sheer cloth she let her lips part . . trying to object, but knowing deep down that her efforts would be in vain. she remembered the day they met . . how full of life and optimism she was. she was naive and foolish it appeared . . longing for someone that just would never long for her back. just thinking about it . . placed an ache in her chest. the ache made her shoulders slump . . shoulders slumping made her close her eyes . . and as her eyes shut, the tears began to slip once more.Β β i . . iβm sorry.Β β she apologized in a soft whisper as she quickly dabbed at her cheeks with her palms.Β β itβs mighty silly . .Β β she looked up at him.Β β but i . . got my heart broken by my best friend . .Β β forcing a laugh she sniffed while shaking her head.Β β but itβs not his fault . . and it will never be his fault . . i just didnβt catch his eye like another seemed to . .Β β her lower lip trembled as she gave a small shrug.Β β i donβt like talkinβΒ βbout it much . . so iβd really appreciate it if . . we ended that conversation there.Β β

ββ¦Flynn. Um. King Rider,β he answered β still having trouble seeing the roguish thief in the script as royalty.Β
βAnd not to worry, Mother. My mouth hasnβt brought completeΒ shame and disgrace to the family name yet. But hey, thereβs still time,β he said dryly, before something in him shifted and he dropped the joking tone.Β
ββ¦I know reputation is important. Iβ¦IβmΒ trying. So, no, I havenβt cursed at any professors.β
Not out loud or to their faces, anyway. Not yet.
&&.Β Β Β Β β oh wow . .Β β she blinked a few times, truly shocked that he decided to take on a key role to one of the plays. she would have guessed her son would have taken up a stage hand position.Β β i think thatβs amazing, really . . and i canβt wait to cheer you on from the front row with your father.Β β she smiled.Β
hearing his remark . . she unexpectedly frowned. her husband spent many years rebuilding his reputation from the ground up . . the once feared and despised beast turned charming and loved king. she never wanted to see his hard efforts go to waste . . which is why she tried to make sure her children were a proper extension of him.Β
β i know you know . . and i know youβre trying , sweetheart.Β β she sighed moving her hand to the side of his face.Β β just know iβm proud of you for not . . cursing your professors out.Β β belle moved back to the table to collect her stack of scripts.Β β did you want to join me at the cafe ? you can study your script while i make edits to the others ?Β β

Rose already hated this. She didnβt want to pretend to be nice to the royals just because it would be easier on her family. Sure, she was going to do it, since Haven was clearly playing the part of princess, but Rose wasnβt as good at it as she was. Still, she tried putting a bit more of a smile on her face.Β βYeah, you too,β she said, taking a seat next to her.
She missed theΒ βsmall detailβ of the entire assignment? She had to force herself to keep from rolling her eyes. Rose had been in classes where she was paired up with people who refused to do their share of the work. She prayed she wasnβt about to be in that situation again.Β βItβs basically a glorified book report,β she explained.Β βPick a book from the list, come up with a thesis, and do a project proving it. Could be a paper or a slideshow presentation or a video or whatever.β
&&.Β Β Β Β Β the light smile that once appeared on her features, slowly disappeared. clearly rose wasnβt remotely happy to see her. could she really blame her though ? it wasnβt like they were close growing up. if anything, they were just polar opposites. haven portrayed to be an extreme extrovert that oozed this dazzling light ( didnβt help that she had sickeningly bright golden locks that seemed to just . . glow ) . . while rose seemed more introverted and reserved, much like her mother if she recalled. maybe thatβs why they never really put in an effort to be best friends.Β β mhm . .Β β she forced out slightly in a soft breathy hum. this was going to be . . excruciating.Β
β a glorified book report ? sounds pretty easy to meΒ β she didnβt look at rose as she pulled over the list of books to choose from, a freshly lacquered index finger trailed down the list as she thought about some of the books sheβd read. picking up a bright neon pink highlighter, she marked off the few that sheβd recognized.Β β out of this list . . iβve read about 95% of these books. which ones have you read ?Β β

Rose was surprisingly unresponsive to the fork through the hair thing that just happened. Rose wasnβt exactly a poster-child of normalcy herself, so she had no room to judge. Rose shrugged in response to it being aΒ βgood thingβ or not; she could interpret it however she wanted.Β βIβmβ¦ not a great swimmer,β she explained.Β βIf we got in a boat or whatever, I could probably put the kelp into tubes, but I think Iβd only hold you back in the water.β
&&.Β Β Β Β Β with a soft and steady hum, she continued to run the golden fork through her long damp locks. once her hair was decently tamed, she moved to her purse, collecting a bright blue ribbon to secure her hair into a ponytail. it wasnβt her best work . . but at least it would be out of her face while air drying. hearing that she wasnβt a good swimmer made her smile as she softly gave her shoulder a maternal pat.Β β well i suppose itβs a good thing iβm a natural in the water hm ?Β β while in a slight moment of thinking, ariel tapped her fingertip to her chin as she suddenly gasped, wide eyed.Β β there is a boat . . question it, do you know how to sail , dear ?Β β

Azalea excitedly applauded her final efforts.Β βOh, bravo! I quite liked that one!βΒ Her jaw dropped as she began to snap her fingers, a gesture she often did on her own whenever sheβd felt like someone finally understood her.Β βRight!? How do they do that? I can hardly keep a straight face, it takes away half the fun of letting one slip right under their noses!βΒ
&&.Β Β Β Β Β calista grinned with satisfaction that someone understood her . . and her love for a decently put together pun. the fact that another shared the humor she had with her uncle phil . . gave her a swelling sense of home.Β β thank you ! iβll be here all week . .Β β she took a slight bow while crossing her arms over her chest with a light chuckle.Β β i feel like itβs just a thing we will unfortunately learn when we are older . . well for those of us that do age.Β β she mused while raising a brow. she happened to be . . quite old, yet she didnβt look a day over twenty.Β β manners . . iβm calista of olympus . . though my friends call me cali . . or they would if i had any friends.Β β she held out her hand to shake.Β
