tell someone "congratulations!" tell them "I'm so happy for you. I know you've been trying for a really long time." ask them "do you need help with anything?" throw them a party with loved ones where you all give them some gifts in acknowledgement of how expensive it is. celebrate how far along they are. take photos with them so they have a record of being loved while their body changes. allow them to voice fears and doubts and anxieties about how it'll go, and reassure them that they'll get through the intense medical procedure coming up & you'll be there for support no matter what. let them tell you about the gross parts and laugh together. really listen to them when they talk about how amazing and profound it is that the human body can do this. share in their excitement for beginning a new stage of their life.

Being the one to call me when I got the news that my surgery would not be in some months, as I'd been previously told, but some years. Even after I told him "I'll survive", he said that saying that means there's at least a consideration of not surviving, and that even if I wasn't a suicide risk (I wasn't), I deserved care. He listened to me cry profusely for an hour, showed more empathy than I would have thought possible for a cis person, and helped get me back to at least neutral.

Being the one to understand how anxious and stressed I was about my surgical consultation in case there was any reason they could find more delays, and giving me so much emotional support around that, texting non-stop and calling for a while right before my appointment.

Being as happy for me as I was when I got my surgery date; maybe in some ways even happier than me because I was still worried something could go wrong to make some delay.

Being the one to ask me, when my surgery date was nearly reached, if there was anything that'd make things easier for me, anything he could help arrange or such. I didn't ask him to come be with me as (I was fine with his care from a distance and) I knew full well he'd committed months in advance to hosting a large international event in the Netherlands that weekend. But, I heard from a mutual friend afterwards, that he'd privately expressed (i.e. behind my back, so not "just being polite") that he'd otherwise have come over.

Being the one to take time out of the big event he was hosting to at least call me (his offer, not my request) as soon as I got out of theatre and was back on the ward, and he was visibly overjoyed for me (all our calls are videocalls)

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! SHE DOIBLES DOWN!

“Jesus actually survived the crucifixion” is legitimately one of the most terrifyingly viable heretical traditions you could start. It fulfills the exact ramifications for a popular and overwhelming heresy: It supports and glorifies Christ’s strength (so powerful he could not die in a meaningful way), encouraging different theological philosophies and understandings of the source material, and is COMPLETELY RUINOUS about the WHOLE POINT of Jesus as the Lamb of God. He is destined to die to take on the sins of all humanity forever so we can br forgiven. The death and the resurrection of Christ after his journey into Hell for three days is cosmologically as important as the Trinity. It is one of the pivotal foundations of the entirety of the religion.

If Jesus didn’t die, he didn’t die for us. That changes a LOT of things. But it is at its root a heresy which is not anti-Christian and is instead just a completely irreconcilable veneration.

Like, Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life, except the resurrection bit is metaphorical, because I’m too swole to actually die.”
