I forgot Tumblr existed I will try to post here more!
I finished my second year of uni so now that is out the way and I can indulge more in my hobbies :3 Anyway I will update you on what I've been up to:
I joined the Green Party of England and Wales in October 2025 π
I was interested in "Your Party" but it had a disastrous launch and in my opinion has not really recovered since. Also I hate they stuck with the name "Your Party" it's so confusing and stupid π It's good to have more left-wing options in politics though.
Anyway the Green Party are great and align with my views on almost everything. Caring for the climate, having a more compassionate approach to immigration and asylum seekers, saving the NHS, bringing services like water into public ownership, decriminalisation of recreational drugs, decriminalisation of sex work, better rights for queer people, taxing the ultra wealthy (of course there are "other" ways to deal with wealth inequality π), etc...
Really the only thing I disagree on is their anti-nuclear stance, but that seems to be a point of contention in the party anyway and there are many green party members who support nuclear energy and want us to keep our nuclear weapons. Of course it'd be better if nobody had nuclear weapons, but if other countries have them it would be stupid to just get rid of ours.
I got really into reading late last year and bought a bunch of books but had to take a break from them because uni coursework was making me explode. BUT NOW I CAN START AGAIN!!
My favourites that I read last year were "1984", "Lord Of The Flies" (I didn't get to read it for my English GCSE so I'm late to the conversation), and "Convenience Store Woman". I was about halfway through "War Of The Worlds" when I had to stop reading and I want to try to finish that over the next few days.
Now that I have the time I've also gotten back into drawing π₯Ή When I was younger I was into drawing but they were more like doodles, but now that I've gotten back into drawing I've been learning life drawing stuff (with pencil).
@shojoknife77 and I are going to an art gallery this week so we can draw together and I can practice my life drawing β€οΈ #ParallelPlay I love my friend
I have also been trying to write songs. I've not gotten very far with them (I haven't recorded or released anything) but I like writing lyrics (however bad they may be) and I have been coming up with some music.
I have also become a fat Overwatch chud once again:
I only play tank and support because they have a shorter role queue but my favourites to play (I don't really main anyone) are Doomfist, Junker Queen, Sigma, Roadhog, Zenyatta, Ana, Lucio and Moira.
Now that I have the time I think I'll start playing some single player games again! I was part way through Rise of the Tomb Raider before I had to drop it for uni stuff, so I want to finish that, and then I also have a bunch of other single player games I've gotten on sales but not been able to play yet. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga come to mind but there might be another.
I have saved the best for last, as of course a Calah post would be incomplete without mentioning music! My last proper post was August 2025 and since then I have found MANY albums that I really enjoy and music taste has changed significantly.
I also made a RateYourMusic account so if any of you use that and want to follow, I'm "Emuwuno" on there.
I'M A BEATLES FAN NOW RAGHHHH.
When I was a younger teenager I "hated" The Beatles but I think I was just being contrarian because I still had "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "Lady Madonna" in my playlist back then LOL. Then around 2024 and early 2025 I was into them at a very casual level, I listened to Abbey Road a bit and very occasionally Revolver, and I listened to Rubber Soul for the first time in January 2025 but wasn't really a big Beatles fan.
Then around October/November 2025 I decided to just give them another go and listen to Revolver and Sgt. Pepper and enjoyed them a lot more than I remember. I really latched onto "And Your Bird Can Sing", and then from there I got into them way more. I started to listen to Rubber Soul more, I tried out the White Album and Help!, and then sometime in January 2026 I decided to just do a full listen of all their studio albums.
My current favourite Beatles album changes all the time, but my long term favourites are Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper. Besides those I'm also really into the White Album, Magical Mystery Tour and A Hard Day's Night :3
My favourite songs change all the time so I'll just list a bunch that I really like (including covers):
You Really Got a Hold On Me
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey
Golden Slumber / Carry That Weight / The End / Her Majesty
Across The Universe (1970 version)
No shade to Paul but John and George are definitely my favourite Beatles songwriters β€οΈ
The Beatles are by far the biggest change in my music taste so I had to give them their own section, but I'll lump together all the other music stuff here.
Daniel Johnston - Hi, How Are You
I listened to this album for the first time in September 2025 and immediately had to listen to it again because it was so incredible. The song "Hey Joe" is one of the only songs that's brought me to tears before. It's easily one of my favourite albums of all time and is an amazing blend of lo-fi singer-songwriter, spoken word, and sound collage.
I have tried out a few other Daniel Johnston albums but this one specifically is really something special. Not a second is wasted.
Asher White - "Architecture Exuberant!"
I found Asher White around October 2025 and she's become another favourite artist of mine.
All the album of hers that I've listened to are good but this one is definitely my favourite. It's got some crazy loud noise pop songs, some psychedelic rock songs, some more spacey acoustic stuff, it's a really great album.
The thing that shocked me most is that it's one of her least well known albums! I guess I got lucky choosing the album with the best cover LOL.
Blood Incantation - "Absolute Elsewhere"
This is album is just really crazy and awesome. Progressive death metal but also with hints of prog rock Γ la mid 70s Pink Floyd, and also some krautrock/electronic/ambient sections made in collaboration with Tangerine Dream!
I'm not a massive metalhead but this album is really something special. Also one of my coworkers was a Blood Incantation fan but he got transferred to a different store π goodbye Ben
I'll list some more albums that I've also been really into but don't have much to say about:
The Beach Boys - "Pet Sounds"
The Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Time Out!"
Horse Lords - "Comradely Objects"
Mort Garson - "Mother Earth's Plantasia"
of Montreal - "Cherry Peel"
Viagra Boys - "Cave World"
And do not fret! I'm still a Weener, I still like TMBG and KGLW and Deerhoof and Geese and etc... β€οΈ
Ok I think that's everything thank you for reading byebye I love you π
Also I don't really like hashtags but if it helps me find more people with similar interests I suppose I must use them.
