Inspiration:

A common phrase, said by die hard Harry Potter fans. No matter how the story was enjoyed that is the common feeling had by all fans.

This kind of camaraderie among fans with each other, and the warm feelings the fans have for the story. It's a beautifully warm feeling. Which is the basis of the feeling that the candle is supposed to invoke. Like coming home, or putting on a favorite sweater. Cozy, comfortable. Warm.

Fragrance:

This blend is absolutely crazy amazing. Vanilla and caramel kick off the top notes but are quickly followed by deeper blend of cinnamon, bay leaf and clove. Smoothing out everything with a cozy warm ambiance comes leather smoke, woods and musk. The fragrances come together as a sweet yet deep spice and smoke blend with a smooth finish.

Etymology:

Rain, Mud, Freshly tilled wet earth, Grass.

After the Rain's scent profile is geared towards the outdoors-minded fragrance palates. The fragrance of wet earth after the rain is called petrichor. Petrichor was coined in 1964 by Australian scientists. I really like the term. (peh·truh·kor is how you pronounce it ^_^) What makes up the part of this natural fragrance is geosmin, ozone, and plant oils. Geosmin comes from the Greek, geo = earth, and osme = smell. Essentially geosmin means earth smell! Combining that wet earth smell with ozone and plant oils makes the wonderful fragrance we smell after a little sprinkle or a heavy storm.

Inspiration:

Florida has a rather epic rainy season usually in the spring. (and Hurricane season sometimes) which is the inspiration of this fragrance. That and potting soil, since they are both a damp earthy smell.

I personally enjoy actively listening to rainstorms, thunder and all. The roof of my home features a metal sheet design which really enhances the rain as it beats down. The "attic" (Florida doesn't really do attics, it's more like a crawlspace. You don't wanna be up there in the heat of summer. Yikes. ( ⚆ _ ⚆ ) ) Putting the fragrance of the outdoors after a good ground-pounding storm just seemed to make sense! Especially when it was no longer season for rain. As much as driving in the rain drives me batty, I love the smell after it's gone. It's so calming. If you enjoy petrichor then you will love this blend!

Fragrance:

After the Rain is a simple blend. It's a very deep earthy, mud, potting soil type fragrance. Rich, earthy, and wet. I add a hint of sweet grass so that the earthy smell isn't so overwhelming. But not too much for those who really don't like the smell of grass smacking them in the face like a rude sibling. (ᗒᗨᗕ)

In the shop:

After the Rain is a very earthy fragrance, to enhance this I use earthy toned micas to color and shimmer the candles and tarts. I don't always pick the same color so each will be unique. My goal with using exclusively earth tones is to enhance the experience of looking at the candle in addition to the fragrance. If you have visited Mini Alchemist before you will note that After the Rain doesn't offer the full suite of products that other fragrances have. This is due to the blend not being a traditionally wearable fragrance. However, if you do wish this fragrance to be in a spray, soap, or what have you, I am more than happy to do so!
