The core of most religious misunderstandings I've witnessed with irreligious people is that they fundamentally misunderstand what religion is to religious people. It's not simply a matter of choosing what worldview most appeals to you or matches your own opinions. This is how you fundamentally believe the world already works, and living accordingly. It's not selecting from an array of possibilities with varying appeal, but aligning yourself with truth. You may not always like that truth, but that doesn't mean you get to throw it out or pick something else - you do the changing to match religious reality, not the other way around. I'm coming at this from a Christian experience, obviously, but this is true of any religion that claims objective, exclusive truth. "Why would you choose to follow a God who—" Because I didn't choose this God; this God, the only true one who exists, chose me; and I best get my priorities and values in order with his, because this world is here by his creative whim. He alone defines truth; he is truth.

This year's Windtrace is totally cool imo, it should have just been called something else since it's effectively a different game, just with similar elements. It is slightly biased in the Hunter's favor but atp, but now that I have the strategies down, I win almost all of my rounds even as Rebel. The biggest reason people think it's so unfair is because it's biased in the Hunter's favor, and it is to an extent! But part of it is just that it's more cooperation-dependent; getting two bad teammates as Rebel is a guaranteed L.
Anyway, I think its a good minigame. It just takes more skill and strategy, and should have been named something else or set as a different gamemode along with the original Windtrace.
My tips & tricks under the cut!!
Rebel:
Don't Shrink the Route: Go for the centermost machines at the beginning! Even just snagging 1 or 2 will save you a lot of trouble at the end of the round. Try to ensure the Hunter has to take the longest route possible to check every machine by leaving the machines at the edge for last. This is especially imperative on the Dawn Winery map, as the three out front are visible from a single point. If you don't get at least one of them at the beginning, the Hunter can watch all 3 almost without moving at all, which almost ensures your loss.
My personal favorite skill to use is Transparency. When the hunter gets close, dash away immediately, use transparency, and run in the direction they came from (giving them a bit of a berth so you don't get caught if they spam Catch) because they'll usually assume you ran away from them, rather than to them. I get away like 95% of the time using this trick. Idk about the prop skill, I'm of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mindset so I haven't tried it. I'm starting to get bored after playing it for hours on end, though, so I'll give it a whirl soon.
Watch the Hunter on the minimap constantly. Run away from a machine before the Hunter can spot you. Either run to a more convenient machine (one that is far away from where the Hunter is likely to go anytime soon, or one that is in a centermost position) or hide nearby until the Hunter leaves.
Don't get too fixated on the same machine. If the Hunter won't stop guarding a specific machine, as they sometimes do, give up and work on a new one. Even if it's one on the edge; sometimes you can break Hunters of a guarding habit by pinging a machine that is far away. Conversely, by not leaving a guarded machine, you're enforcing a guarding habit. If it's near the end of the game and a specific machine is your only shot at winning, though, all bets are off. You can try to lure them away by pinging a different machine, or letting them chase you before going Transparent and running back, but this is a tight spot and you gotta wing it.
If you need a place to hide, try climbing! Most hunters won't look up, or if they do, they'll stare up at you for a few seconds before actually trying to get you. That's a few seconds that let you regain stamina, let your skill come off CD, and a few seconds they aren't harassing your teammates. Assuming they look up, of course, which they don't do 80% of the time. (Even then, I've had a few people find me on sensor and still give up without climbing after me.)
Unequip any pets you have. Seelies especially are the worst, as they're the brightest and noisiest. I've caught many disguised Rebels only because their Seelie made a sound at the wrong time, and others because I saw their bright-ass Seelie following after them.
Cooperate with your teammates! For example, if you get the Favor and are in a position where a distraction is needed, you can easily outpace the Hunter using Starstep. Kite them around the map while your teammates fix machines. If a distraction isn't needed (the Hunter isn't good or if you're in a good position to fix a machine unimpeded) then save it for later.
Hunter
On most maps, Rebels spawn on the exact opposite side of the map. As soon as the round begins, run to the opposite side of the map. This will usually let you catch 1-2 Rebels at the very beginning, depending on which map it is. The exception is Ritou. There, Rebels can spawn almost anywhere because of the rooftop spawn points. (On Dawn Winery, Rebels spawn on the opposite side of the winery; if you spawn at the front doors, run to the grassy area behind the Winery, around where the machine is. Keep an eye out. The opposite is true if you spawn behind the winery.)
In my experience, the most difficult Rebels are the ones that use Transparency. There's no surefire way to locate them after they disappear, but here's a few tips:
If they're in grass, the grass beneath their feet will still move, so you might be able to watch where they move this way. This is difficult to spot.
Use the Sensor skill. Sometimes, if you hit Sensor with a Rebel nearby, it will leave a small blue light where the Rebel was. This can give you an idea of where they decided to run. It's also useful outside of detecting Transparent Rebels. Some will hide in trees or in corners, and the Sensor skill will tell you if they're nearby. Height does not matter with this skill; whether they're in the ground below you or in the top of a tree, as long as they're in the blue ring around you when you press it, it will detect them. It's the one I always use.
This is more of a general rule, not just applicable to Transparent Rebels, but you can sometimes hear them move or climb. Especially if they're disguised, or if they have Seelies.
Insight is the best favor in my opinion. If you don't like this one, then the one that removes your icon from the minimap is the second best imo. Insight is ideally saved until you have one Rebel left, or, if 3/4 machines are repaired or if time is running out, 2 Rebels. If there's still 3 by the time the favor drops, I'd recommend saving it for later unless you really need to interrupt the Rebels.
Make a route and check every machine. Check machines that show progress more often, since the Rebels will come back to them more often. You can scare less competent Rebels away from trying to fix machines at all if you're quick enough at checking every machine, making them progress much slower. Obviously, as soon as a machine gets pinged, check it.
A general rule is to play as tall male characters. The taller characters are noticeably faster than shorter characters, so they're the best option. If you're really good it doesn't matter too much though.
A lot of this year's windtrace is just noticing patterns and common strategies, and figuring out ways to anticipate or circumvent them. It's not bad, it just takes practice and a bit of creativity.

sorry but felt like I needed to say this with my whole chest
@ryanthedemiboy I use the same template and edit it entirely? Aka I add the character & writing & images it is literally an edit of a plain text reblog? Also memes aren't stealable unless you're literally copy/pasting someone's stuff & calling it you're own? Also I don't believe that post still exists the screenshot is literally Years old and both accounts are deactivated? Also shut the fuck up?
Reposting a post is not making a meme you psychopath. Me adding a PNG of Roy Mustang and editing transparent rain and fire and figuring out what font fits his Name best to edit/stick on top of that post is a meme. My meme.
@ryanthedemiboy how have you been on tumblr 13 years and still have the mindset of a 13yr old on twitter? The dots are not connecting
A thot is out here flipping between making memes/edits on 3 diff blogs and the Audacity to call me a meme theif? like yall ik it sounds like not a big deal but I legit make it a point to onnly post my own stuff/the only other peoples content are from reblogs. Genuinely any post on this blog is either my edit/meme or someone's reblog. Go scroll fr have fun. I Literally make a Point to make sure of this, and Everyone is free to use my memes/edits without credit bc im srry but gatekeeping memes is Wild.
As long as youre not saying you made something you didnt (and unless the creator has stated not to use) fr anyone can use/repost my stuff. I just cannot stand the whole creative theft vibe bc it's so shitty? I have friends whose art has been stolen & sold on cheap clothes my brother in Christ I do not understand how you're not comprehending these things.
You are wrong. Simple as that.
I am riled I have been rileth there is no rational sense in those statements sir I should be less annoyed and more concerned
it's all good lol I realized it sounded a little ambiguous at first so I added the tags to clarify AFTER I already rbed, so that might have been the source of the confusion

I'm really curious. I have an idea of who's gonna be at the top but I need to know. If your fave changes often (like mine does) pick whoever has been your fave the most. Overall my fave is probably Idia, with Jade in a VERY VERY close second place.
I don’t care about Kate Middleton or what’s going on in her personal life but the way the royal family PR team is handling literally everything lately is so stupid

People who hate Disney adults are so annoying. I'm 17 and I know there's like a 99% chance I'm not going to Disney while I'm "young enough" for it to be acceptable by the arbitrary standards of these joyless apes. If I ever want to go, I'm gonna have to be a "Disney adult" which! Is! Not! A! Bad! Thing! I don't understand the hate anyway. Like, am I supposed to develop an allergy to joy magic and fun once I turn 20?

I'm probably going to be cancelled for this but I feel this needs to be said by someone lest our community becomes a pit of unsalvageable drama. I am going to discuss an ongoing trend where a callout post surfaces with some kind of incredibly serious accusation - for example, racism, harassment/bullying, or even the consumption of csem - against a writer or creator in our community. And as a result of this callout post, the creator is subsequently run off the platform, or an orchestrated public attempt is made to do so, despite a lack of tangible evidence to support any of the claims in the post.
I need you all to internalize this: racism, targeted harassment, and csa are all incredibly serious accusations. They require incontrovertible evidence if you are going to demand public justice for them. A false accusation is not only going to slander the reputation of an innocent person; it could be potentially life-ruining, especially in the case of something like a csa allegation. It is also incredibly insulting to actual victims of racism and csa, diminishing both actions and making it infinitely harder to hold real perpetrators accountable. The weight of these accusations cannot be overstated, yet every callout post I've ever seen never offers hard evidence of any of these actions, nor do they offer any meaningful calls to action to enable some kind of justice. Instead, I have seen hundreds of people uncritically accept and share these unsubstantiated allegations. I have seen them engage in public harassment of the accused, their mutuals, and anyone else who simply finds it unethical to weaponize serious crimes for the purpose of a personal vendetta. All this to say: the authors of these callout posts are successfully instigating public harassment campaigns and people are happily engaging in public abuse of their targets.
This is a horrible way to treat another human being in your space, and really that should be enough for people to think twice about uncritically believing and sharing these callout posts. But I also want to add how damaging this behaviour has been for our writing community overall. Because what all of this means is that if you are a visible writer and someone has personal beef with you, they can literally accuse you of a crime without any evidence and people will just believe it, and you will become the object of public abuse. This is absolutely insane behaviour and literally beyond demotivating as a creator here. I have personally thought about quitting writing here because of this nonstop callout drama, and I know for a fact that other authors have done so too. Because when you see this shit happen repeatedly - talented and passionate authors being run off the platform, and instigators of these public harassment campaigns never being held accountable - you start to wonder what the point of being in this community is. Not even to say anything about what it's like if you, yourself, have been a recipient of harassment as a result of these callout posts, or if you have to watch someone you know being verbally abused by an entire community, or if you have actually been on the receiving end of one of these crimes and need to watch people make a complete mockery of it as a result of terminally online drama.
I am pointing out this trend not to prolong any hatred, but because I am hoping to reverse it. The next time you see a callout post with a serious allegation - that is, an allegation of material harm against another human being - do not simply accept it. Read the post as critically as possible. Are the accusations clear and rational or is the post being unspecific or illogical in its allegations? Is there actual evidence being presented, or is all the supporting information irrelevant, absent, or vague? Is the author of the post making it because it is their last resort to achieving justice, or do they have some kind of personal bias against the accused? Are you being asked to engage in public justice or are you being manipulated into participating in public harassment?
I really urge you all to think about this. If not for the people who've already been affected by this, then for yourself. Because after all these writers have been run off the platform, then the next person who might be targeted is you.
