I remember Alessi’s Ark playing a sweet concert in a tiny venue here in Genova: a delightful experience, which makes me definitely glad to hear something new from her.

MOOR MOTHER LA92

Black and white taping and industrial aesthetics perfectly mirror the claustrophobic atmosphere concentrated in the 1:36 length of LA92 by Moor Mother, the experimental music monicker of Philadelphia native Camae Ayewa, who is also a poetess and activist in the futurist collective Black Quantum.

Moor Mother’s new album Analog Fluid Of Sonic Black Holes is out now on Don Giovanni Records.

TALL TALL TREES Expectations

A foggy autumnal atmosphere wraps the farm where Mike Savino aka Tall Tall Trees chose to set his video for this delicious folk gem titled Expectations, off his album A Wave Of Golden Things released last friday on Joyful Noise.

TENNIS Runner

It seems like yesterday since we posted the first videos of Tennis but 2020 will see the release of Swimmer, their fifth album to date. 

The band is anticipating the new record with this video for their new song Runner, the demo of which was apparently recorded on a ‘fisherman’s cove’ with just an acoustic guitar and a drum machine but ‘the limitations seemed to work in our favor’ since ‘the demo we recorded that day outlined the sound of our future’.

That’s good news indeed.

RAYOWA Better Man

Last week Essex disco-funk trio Rayowa released their debut single Better Man, which video is focused on the struggle of a young man (interpreted by Andre-Pierre Nisbett-Gordon) against anxiety and depression.

Winter is coming but The Naked And Famous don’t give up to it and release this sunny new video which perfectly matches the lyrics of their brand new single Sunseeker.

It’s also a sort of relief for me to watch, since Italy is currently going through a rollercoaster of meteo alerts - so I might say I’m a sunseeker too, lol.

A very essential video for the latest single by Kilo Kish, whose singing figure is surrounded by the deepest dark, with yellow lyrics on screen to accompany the performance.

GIRAFFE Pressure

Tuareg music plus jazz and kraut-rock is the intriguing mix of Giraffe’s Pressure, made even more appealing by these hypnotic video-manipulated rocks and minerals filmed at the Canadian Museum Of Nature.

Giraffe’s third album Desert Haze will be out next month on Marionette.

KEELEY FORSYTH Debris

I have to confess I never heard of Keeley Forsyth until today. My fault because she’s a popular actress in lots of tv shows so some of you guys are probably laughing at my ignorance.

Anyway. Keeley just started a parallel career as a musician, and the guys from Leaf signed her to release her debut album next January. For now we have this video for her song Debris, basically a mystic rebirth in a forest. It looks like a metaphor to describe someone getting out from some really dramatic issues - and in fact you can clearly perceive a rather dark atmosphere despite the sunlight above and the sense of relief.

ISAN Ichthyosaur

It’s always good to listen to something new from ISAN. Years have passed but they keep on doing music that never disappoints me.

Ichthyosaur comes from their latest album Lamenting Machine, out now on Morr (well, obviously).

DOPE LEMON Dope & Smoke

Besides his work with his sister Julia, Aussie folk-rocker Angus Stone has a number of solo-releases to date which latest one under the Dope Lemon pseudonym sounds like his most psychedelic.

There’s a comment about this video on YouTube saying: ‘No need for weed, you can get high on this music video alone’. I just couldn’t agree more.
