PUNE UNIVERSITY - A SWEET HAVEN WITHIN THE CITY
Pune University now called Savitribai Phule Pune University is one of the most prestigious institutes within our city that attracts students globally. This esteemed landmark boasts a gorgeous green campus, eager beaver students, and colonial-styled buildings that represent the best parts of being a Puneri. It’s quiet, serene and the tall trees tell of stories that will continue to echo throughout time.
The trip can easily be covered before the traffic hits, during the early hours of the morning. Going here is always delightful, so much so that bike groups organise 4-hour long cycling tours within the campus. They show you around, lead you through all the trails, and get into the thick of the history surrounding this long-standing building.Â
Historical fact - The building was used as a residence for the governors of Bombay during the British Raj.Â
SINHAGAD - SPECTACULAR VIEWS ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!

Visiting the pathways along the famous Sinhagad fort is a hoot and a half!
You see the city sights, pristine lake views while passing the gorgeous Khadakwasla dam, and then the majestic landscape views after the uphill climb to the fort. When you get to your perfect spot after ascending, you’ll revel at the gorgeous sights and sample some of the local fares like pitla-bhakari and curry and it’s a right and yummy treat at the top!
The uphill climb to Sinhagad is perfect for a day trip with friends. Sinhagad fort is a right of passage for any Pune resident and it’ll definitely be a day you’ll back on with fond memories and reminisce to people like ‘You know what happened when I went to Sinhagad fort…’
You could easily visit Panshet dam as well to get some time by the water and explore more sceneries. There are a lot of dips and corners that’ll get your adrenaline spiking so power on and be careful on the ghats.Â
Beautiful parks, restaurants, strawberry farms, and other delights are sprinkled along this route. You’re in for a looooong ride so get in your calories for the day at Mapro Garden and make your way forward to endure the roads ahead. You’ll surely be clocking in your workout for the week during your visit here.

LONAVALA-KHANDALA - SMOOTH TERRAINS ALL THE WAY!
The smooth stretches along the Lonavala-Khandala route make pedalling here an ideal spot for riders at all skill levels. Meander your way through the serene forestscapes that guide this pathway.Â
It includes a bit of a steep uphill climb when you hit the ghats but it’s a push to test your mettle and will definitely get your heart pumping. It’s a sureshot fun time for any cyclist to visit this spot.Â

MULSHI -Â LET THE SOOTHING WATERS CALM YOUR SPIRIT
This author’s personal favourite spot is Mulshi dam =) Going here feels like you’re sitting inside a picture frame while you’re in the corner spot of this majestic lake, simply breathing it all in! The green mile road winds through green hillocks that are always lush and the mood set for the entire ride is a wonder! We suggest T-Rex Air for this journey as it adds an extra something to your joyride.Â
Take a little spiritual detour at Hadshi temple situated on a hill. The roads are pretty smooth with a couple of hairpin bends which will take you to the parking. This lovely place of worship is dedicated to Lord Vitthal, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Ganesha. Located near Mulshi, it offers up a soothing balm to your spirit.
Pro Tip -  Start off at Bhugaon road and let the roads take you to the city’s quiet little nirvana. Happy Cycling!Â

Heralded as a camper's paradise, Pawna lake is scattered with tall hills and good weather all year round. It’s a pretty getaway formed by the Pavana dam in the Pune district of Maharashtra. This route is popular amongst cyclists and the entire trail can be completed in a day. If time permits, go to the majestic Tikona fort while you’re there. The path may be fraught with dangers that come in the form of potholes and pebbles but we’ve got your back.
