Bleeding Steel | Chapter 1
Emery burst into the RV in a flurry of movement, all but flinging the groceries she bought onto the nearest unoccupied surface before running to shove her bruised and bleeding knuckles under running water in the bathroom sink. She grit her teeth as the shallow cut under her eye demanded attention, a bit of weakness she couldnât afford to acknowledge.
It was a harsh reminder that the fun and games of meeting new people was over: things were going back to normal again.
Caden startled as the teleporter burst into the RV, the groceries causing him to look up from his place on the couch in confusion. Heâd gotten a small hint of a dull pain on both his hands and cheek, and he grimaced at the realization that the grocery run probably hadnât gone so well.Â
He entered the bathroom cautiously, only sparing a glance at the weird mirror before refocusing on Emery. âDo you need anything?â he asked, figuring he could spare her the normal pleasantries. âIâm pretty sure there are bandages somewhere in the mirror.â
