Title: My Engineer The Series

[CONTAINS SPOILERS]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I really enjoyed this series. I liked that we followed all the different couples and how the couples all differed from each other.

Bohn & Duen:

I wasn’t a huge fan of these two together if I’m honest, they both got jealous pretty easily & didn’t really communicate very well when something was bothering them.

Ram & King:

Okay so I might be slightly biased when it comes to these two because I have the biggest crush on Perth, but I actually really adored these two. Even though there wasn’t much talking per se I felt like they found their own way of communicating with each other. And they respected each other’s boundaries when it came to dealing with things, like when Ram’s dad had an affair and he found out, he went straight to King someone he trusted & King didn’t try & pry, he just let Ram know that he was there for him.

Mek & Boss:

I definitely thought these two were sweet together but also slightly frustrating. They were another two who if they only talked to each and had been more open with one another they could’ve saved them self so much hurt. I did like seeing them both embracing their feelings for the other and being comfortable enough to share that in front of their friends.

Thara & Frong:

These two did not get enough screen time to fully develop in my opinion hopefully we’ll get more in season 2, but from the interactions between them I really like them. I hope it’s not gonna end up another one sided feeling sort of thing as that was hinted towards the end of S1, but I’ll guess we’ll have to wait and see.

So this was an interesting one for me. While I did enjoy it overall I wasn’t really wowed by it, and I think that’s mostly to do with the lack of direction in terms of the plot.

The storyline to me felt a bit all over the place & was kind of like I was watching two separate shows, one with a romance plot & one with the debt collector plot. It’s like the writers weren’t quite sure what they wanted to do so just sort of chucked them together, but to me the contrasting plots didn’t flow well alongside each other.

The romance itself for me was okay, but I do wish there were more episodes to be able to develop the friendship to relationship between Song Ha & Jin Won a bit better as it felt kind of rushed, although for only having 8 episodes that’s to be expected. Granted they did have some really cute moments though. The other part I was kinda meh with the romance was that Jin Won was quite cold towards Song Ha at times & reacted physically at times like when he punched him in the last episode which was completely uncalled for in my opinion, like I get he was figuring his feeling out & what that meant for himself but he went from punching him to kissing him, so I dunno.

Overall though it was a quick watch and I did like the characters for the most part.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Title: SOTUS S The Series. [CONTAINS SPOILERS]. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I liked this series a lot more than SOTUS. It felt more realistic and I enjoyed seeing Arthit & Kongphob grow as a couple, and as individuals. That being said it still wasn’t the best if I’m honest.

Let’s start off with my favourite scene, which like many others is when Arthit declares his love and his relationship with Kongpob in front of all his peers. I loved how he went from confidently declaring his love then going all shy, I think it’s a really sweet moment and showed just how much Arthit really does love Kongphob and how much he values their relationship.

It was also nice having the series follow Arthit in the workplace as people don’t stay in school forever, so I liked seeing how they dealt with navigating adult life alongside their relationship.

My main gripe was the lack of communication at times between Arthit & Kongphob. A lot of their issues could’ve been handled better if not solved, if they simply talked it through with each other.

[CONTAINS SPOILERS]. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay so before anyone comes for me I know technically speaking this isn’t a BL show, however it does have one of my favourite BL couples in it. So I decided to do a mini review of them within the series. Let me introduce you to Alec & Magnus Lightwood-Bane also know as “MALEC”.

So the reason I decided to post about these two is that I’ve just rewatched all 3 seasons of Shadowhunters and my love for the show & for these two hasn’t faded.

Although this show is centered around other characters and a main storyline, Malec’s relationship is big part of the storyline.

The beginning of their relationship was complicated to say the least. Magnus was an openly proud bisexual whilst Alec was a closeted gay man struggling to come to terms with his sexuality due to the society he was raised in. They had to overcome prejudices & ignorance from their own people & the society around them. They had their ups and downs but in the end they pulled through it together. Not only do they learn and grow as individuals but also as a couple, which was beautiful to watch and I absolutely adore them.

Another thing I loved with their storyline is in regards to Alec’s mom Maryse. She was not happy when Alec came out to say the least and didn’t approve of him & Magnus, which she wasn’t shy about voicing her opinion on. However as the series progressed we saw how her attitude towards her son & his relationship changed. She not only became a better mother but also a better person in general and her character development was one of my favourites. I started off hating her character to loving her by the end of the show. She even played a part in repairing Malec’s relationship when they were going through a difficult time. The best moment for me though was when Maryse was the one to walk Magnus down the aisle at his & Alec’s wedding. I thought it was such a beautiful moment and showed just how far she had come and that she truly wanted her children to be happy.

In terms of representation of LGBT+ community and issues, I think Shadowhunters handled it pretty well in my personal opinion. There was Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian & Asexual representation within the show and it didn’t feel forced. It was simply a part of the characters identity, but not used as a defining factor for them if that makes sense, which is something I appreciated. As someone who is bisexual myself, I appreciated seeing a character who didn’t apologise for being who he was, and who was shown to have a healthy committed relationship in the end. Unfortunately there is still a lot of erasure & negative stereotypes when it comes to being bisexual, so I liked seeing a character who was comfortable in his sexuality, irregardles of the ignorant & narrow minded opinions of the society around him.

A side couple I liked but sadly we did not get to see more of was Andrew & Lorenzo, they finally met at Malec’s wedding and you could see the sparks between them. Sadly though Netflix decided to cancel Shadowhunters before their relationship could be developed any further.

Another side couple we saw very briefly towards the end was Helen & Aline. I really enjoyed the interac between them that we got to see and would like to have seen more.
