At the funeral, Of a high school suicide, They gave speeches and hugs, And everyone was an alibi. One teacher gave a speech, Saying that this death is a wake up call. But I disagree. This death isn’t a wake up call, It’s already too late. The wake up call was months before, We were just so oblivious, We didn’t think anything more. But their red eyes coming from the bathroom, And their lunches were always “forgotten.” And their tired eyes that spoke sadness. Now that was the wake up call, But we were too blind to see. That this awful world was too bad, For them, how could we just let them be? And now they’re gone, They can’t come back. All the memories of growing up have disappeared. Because no one saved them, Or loved them back.
