when she opens the door and begins talking, elias almost believes that everything is gonna be just fine. heâs about to say something, mention how heâd die for a bagel with cream cheese right about now, but the atmosphere in the room takes a turn the vert second his sisterâs eyes rest on the half-naked lincoln. elias is sat there, mouth hanging open, gaze moving from his twinââ his best friend, to his lover, and at this point? heâs not quite sure what to say. the taller man seems to handle it well, acts polite, not bothered by the girlâs attitude towards him and elias thinks itâs quite fucking cute. but he doesnât have a lot of time to think about it, his brain choosing to focus on this uncomfortable feeling, this almost nervousness. nonetheless, he offers his sister a small smile, hopes it will make things at least a little bit better, but sheâs not here to play. when she gestures towards the door, he immediately turns to look at lincoln, eyes wide, lips parted. he shakes his head slightly, canât help but feel bad about this treatment his loverâs receiving. âiâm sorry.â he mouths, wanting nothing more than to reach out, take the otherâs hand. but he decides against it, figuring it could only make ember more.. angry? he knows she hates him, he knows. what heâs not aware of, however, is the fact she was the one to punch him in the face. elias has no clue, and maybe thatâs for the better. âiâll see you later?â he checks in with lincoln, hopes this incident wonât cancel their evening plans. he watches as the male collects his belongings, leaves the room. a soft sigh escapes. âoh, gosh,â he begins, worried eyes rested on his sister. âem.. that was, like, so wildly unnecessary.â he informs softly, but is quick to change the subject. he forces a small smile, decides to act like none of this just happened. âanyway,â tone almost tad too innocent. âhowâs the hangover?âÂ
Throughout the whole scene all Lincoln can see is how uncomfortable Elias is. He wants to protect him from this, make it easier. However his sister is fuming, and any attempt to do so would only evoke her temper and he could see it in her eyes. âyou got itâ he states, no real anger or tone in his voice, he is happy to leave as she continues to allow her eyes to caress him with venom. He hears Elias start to speak and watches as his sister looks at him, it was still an upset look, but this time not directed at Lincoln, he took the moments Embers eyes werent on him to smile at Elias and shoot a small wink. âyeah, maybeâ he smiles softly. His voice now more wary, seeing how difficult this is for Elias is disconcerting, it makes him want to push past all of his wanting and do what is right. Not forcing Elias to chose, partly because it is the adult thing to do, partly because he knows he wouldnt be the choice Elias would make, and however selfish, that knowledge hurt. He picked up the rest of klydes clothes and left the room, closing the door behind him. He would have a lot to think about as the day progressed, but at that moment he had a text from Evan, he had other things to focus on, so he left them both behind Eliasâ door.Â
She can see that this whole thing is wild, she barges into his room and demands his company to leave. This was unlike anything Ember had ever been with her brother, she had always protected, him but never took a stance in his love life, letting him do what he wanted. This time however she felt the need to protect his heart, to protect him from the man. As Lincoln speaks she is momentarily stunned, she expects more of a fight, more anger, more something. But Lincoln leaves quicker than expected and for that, she is almost thankful to him. The maybe hanging in the air, she selfishly hopes that the maybe is a definitive no, that her brother will be free from the young Connors grasp. She waves to him sarcastically as he shuts the door, her now badly bruised knuckles prominent. She took a breath in before turning to her brother. She wanted to apologize, the moment that he was out of the room, she could feel the shift in the air, her senses coming back to her. She doesnt however say the words, instead, she just nods as he says how it was uncalled for and shrugs. She allows the subject to be changed effortlessly and hopes this to be the only hiccup in their day together. âits fucking killer dudeâ she smiled, finally genuinely smiling, no matter how angry she had just been, it was impossible to remain so when it was just her and her better half. âI am never taking the line âcome on em it will be funâ againâ she said mimicking his voice as she spoke. Her knuckles ached as she laughed but she tried to not bring attention to her hand, if Lincoln hadnt ratted her out, which for some reason she was starting to believe was a possibility, she wouldnt let her hand give her away.Â
