In my head, “We Are Going To Be Friends” is mine and Emma’s song. Not just because we’re friends lol, but because of this one specific memory from when we were in college. She came to visit me a few years ago, and she lives over 1,000 miles away so I don’t get to see her often. I was showing her around town and we walked into a Sephora and IMMEDIATELY “We Are Going To Be Friends” starts playing. I gasped and look at her and it took her a second to hear it too. And we laughed and thought it was cute or funny or whatever. But I hadn’t seen her in a long time and I love and miss her a lot, and it meant something to me that we shared a funny little moment like that. It was something so weirdly specific to us. I don’t know if she thinks of it as our song, but it will always make me think of her.
