"I wouldn't mind your help, but you're under no obligation. That's all I meant."

"And if I promised you it would be no extra trouble at all?"

"Then I would have no choice but to admire your generosity and determination," he mused.

“But like… you are here. Where I live. So shouldn’t I be hospitable? I think Adam would eat me if I wasn’t.”

"Hospitable, I suppose, yes. But you don't need to go to that much trouble. I'm only stopping by to have a meeting with Finn, and it was kind enough for Adam to allow me to come here."

“In that case… I suppose you better make it worth my while.”

Emery laughed a bit. "Well, for your offer of a drink, I'll give you my full attention. Sound fair?"

“I don’t see anyone going through any trouble.”

"You do too much for everyone but yourself," Emery pointed out rather plainly, though it wasn't meant to wound. "So, I view it as troubling yourself for my sake."
