John let his lip curl into an expression of determination as he continued to move about the punching bag, delivering a punishing flurry of punches with each step. His knuckles screamed out for relief. He could have easily conjured himself a pair of gloves to alleviate the pain, but that would have gone against the entire reason he was here. Ever since John had accepted the Oan ring of power, he had relied on it to help him overcome any obstacle. He wasn’t just a Green Lantern, he was The Master Builder, one of the greatest Lanterns of them all. His constructs were solid because his willpower was.

But there had been a time before all that. Before the League and before the Corps, John had been a Marine Corps sniper. It was an elite unit, which felt silly to say now. His co-workers now were aliens, gods, and billionaires. Punching a hanging bag with his bare fists reminded him of being back on base. Of being just a kid from Detroit.

John took a break as the music from his speakers faded, he must have gone through an entire playlist. Time felt different in space. He knew that it was roughly three in the morning, but from the windows on the Watchtower, all John could see was the darkness of space. This was the only time he got any privacy, during the day the Watchtower was alive with the hustle and bustle of a superhero headquarters. The Lantern peeled his sweat soaked shirt off of his body, dabbing his body of more sweat and discarding it on top of his gym bag. He took a swig of a sports drink, queuing up a new playlist and going back to work on the bag.

WHOOMPH. WHOOMPH. WHOOMPH.

it was been one of those nights where her own thoughts don’t let her sleep properly. maybe it’s the time she has been on the watchtower, or the weird limbo she is, not on earth, not in the space properly. the truth is that she misses the feeling of being out there flying through the space, looking different suns and visiting new planets. maybe when this mission finishes she could spend some time flying freely. for now and after making of the bed a mess because of the insomnia she decides has been enough of spending the night just laying there being unable to sleep. she puts the shorts on, ties her hair on a high pony tail and her sport bra to go to the training room. hopefully after some workout she will finally sleep.

John felt almost embarrassed for being startled when the newcomer coughed. Even if John wasn't a member of the galaxy's foremost peacekeeping squad, he was a Marine Corps sniper. The only person who should be able to sneak up on him was Batman. John silently chastised his ring for not warning him, his ring chirped back that she wasn't a threat. John turned down his music, grabbing his shirt and mopping more sweat from his chest.
