The Human add-on

Prometheus saw this…. person as it entered his file. There appeared to be static patches here and there and the colors appeared to be faded. He looked at whomever this entity was from a distance, there was a chance it could cause harm to him or his current file.

Alpha continued to wander into the file. She could not shake the feeling of being watched, but ignored it none the less. She continued to quietly walk forward, eyes scanning the area under her hat. It was odd here, but so was her file so she shrugged that off.

Zacharie was a tad pleased to hear of Alpha’s mutual dislike for Dedan, and he followed her carefully, making sure to watch his step. He still didn’t trust the stillness of this place, and didn’t want to be caught off guard. "Convenient," he noted aloud. "It certainly has plenty of room, too."

Alpha nodded, entering the building now and looked around. She had memorized the hallway even with the lack of sound to guide them, and began making the many turns needed to lead him through. “The only thing I hate about this place is how quiet it is now.” She said with a sigh.

The merchant could agree, the silence here was thick and heavy, and almost seemed to try to suffocate him with each breath. He shook off the mildly paranoid thoughts, following her closely. He wasn’t willing to get lost here. "It’s very uncomfortable," he said out loud, even if just to break that damned quiet for just a moment.

Alpha kept walking ahead, turning left and finally got to Dedan’s office, a bunch of stuff scattered about. A bed behind the desk, a bag with stuff like meats and tickets, and other stuff needed to survive. Beside it was a rather large sack filled with credits as well. A lot of them. “So, this is where I’ve been living.” She said. Another thing to note was that despite the halls having colours, Dedan’s office was pure white.

"Interesting," Zacharie mused, looking around and trying not to make a point of starting at her abundance of credits. "Seems you’ve made a nice little home here. Perfect for you since it’s more… pure, isn’t it?" He motioned towards the empty white coating the room. "Yet another glitch, or…?" 

"Well, technically speaking, the whole zone was purified." She replied. "When the file got edited from the puppeteer, I guess he tried to recolour it all. So about 70% of the file has colour again, and the rest remaining purified. Makes it rather confusing sometimes." Alpha explained to him, picking up the bag of credits as it was bigger. "Mind grabbing my other bag of supplies?" She asked him with a slight smile. She tried to forget about the earlier incident with him. She needed to get along with him for now.

"Why would he try to recolor it?" Zacharie asked, nodding and taking the other bag, struggling to find a way to hold both it and his own knapsack at once comfortably. "I think the white is rather nice, really. Less of an eyesore." He gave her a friendly smile to match hers - it would be better if she continued trusting him for now. Better for his sake, and far worse for the Batter’s. "Anything else you need me to get for you?"

"I honestly couldn't tell you.I've had my theories, but you can never know what goes on in the puppeteers head." She replied and shook her head. "And no, I don't have anything else. Thanks for the help." She said with a small laugh. "So, shall we head outside so we can go back to your file?"

The chief of the specters [closed w/ embracing-chains]

"I have not been here long," It said, as it followed her out of the tunnel. "I was searching for a Zacharie in this file, but from what you have told me he appears to be void from this file." It walked slightly behind her, and off to the side. "What has become of the residential district of Zone 2?"

"Same fate as everyone else." Alpha told him. "They’re gone as far as I can tell. Not a single elsen to be seen." The add-on added before looking around, thinking before walking towards the main mines of zone 1. She was hoping that her file would not be too stubborn in placing them in zone 0, but first she had to find one of the doors that warp.

It nodded slightly, the hat on its head shifting around on the flat surface. “I see.  Do any adversaries still reside in this file?” It was quite curious about this place, it seemed rather nice to it. Still vibrant, very empty. No one would disturb it here if it stayed. Though it did have a mission to fulfill. Maybe once it had slain every Zacharie, it would return to stay here for the rest of its life, that probably wouldn’t end.

Alpha shrugged. “Not much. Spectres are still around by a plentiful amount but other then that, no one else around to worry about.” Alpha told it as she went further into the mines with it, going towards the exit as she knew that was a warp point on that ladder.

Spectres. This file even had something to do. It seemed too good to be true, a place where it could be alone, with the exception of alpha, and do whatever it wanted. But, it had to leave at some point. “I understand. Do you like it here?” It wanted to make some conversation as they walked, not wishing for silence. Or at least not now. 

Alpha shrugged. "I'm a bit divided on that. On one hand I don't have to worry about much, and I can go pretty much where ever I want, but on the other hand the glitches are a pain in the ass sometimes when the file fucks up, and the silence really gets to me if it's dead quiet." She replied to it, sighing. "So, I guess it has it's ups and downs."

He kept after her, retaining his silence as he followed her up, almost amused to see his abandoned creation pop up from absolutely no where. As she took a moment to figure out their situation, he finally fished the item from his bag, a grin on his face.  "Hey, Alpha," he said, putting on his falsest, kind voice. "I’m sorry for telling you all of that stuff earlier. You don’t have to believe me. But, hey, he definitely had a family.” He offered her the item, a picture inside a broken glass frame, with a small red stain in the corner. The picture was slightly faded, but did not obscure the smiles of the female and child depicted within, as well as the familiar straight look on the male’s, clearly the Batter. “He sold it to me after he returned from The Room. You can have it.” He played it off as a peace offering, but the picture had clearly suffered unfriendly damage, and he hoped silently that it would only hurt her more, and reassure her, while keeping himself safe. 

She starred at it, taking it into her hand on sighed, placing it into her pocket as she did not look at it for long. Well, at least it was an attempt. “Thanks…I guess.” She muttered, shaking her head. “Alright, this way.” She said, walking to the east door of the park, and once they entered they were back in zone 1 outside the barns. “There we go, back on track.” Alpha said with a slight smile, leading onwards once more. She ignored the thought of the photo for now. She’d have time to think about it later…

Yes. He could read the air around her clearly, and she was certainly becoming unnerved further. Ah, but that should be enough. At least she could slam the photo in the Batter’s face if she confronted him about it, and he’d understand the feeling. He grinned, following her carefully, and watching the odd changes in landscape with amusement. “Your file certainly is buggy,” he noted aloud. “No offense, of course.” 

Alpha nodded. “Yeah, I’ve gotten used to it.” She said, taking a deep breath to calm herself down. “Actually it’s being rather tame right now. On worse days the textures will get ruined and there will be things where there should not, like a piece of rail in the middle of a field.” She told the merchant as she looked a the building to dedans main building. That was where she set up camp in her file, so that’s where her stuff was.

He let out a soft snort through his nose at the thought of texture glitches (they tended to be freakish, and yet oddly amusing), but otherwise said nothing, instead following her up to Dedan’s office. “This where you stay?” he asked after a moment, looking up at the tall building. Ugh, he’d never been fond of that man, or his maze-like office. It wasn’t difficult - just inconvenient.

She stopped infront of a chest, putting two things from her pocket into her ears like ear plugs to block any noise. “This is what I think about what you just said Zacharie.” Alpha said, kicking open the chest as a loud glitchy high pitched headache inducing screech came out from the chest for a good 30 seconds, alpha being fine due to her ear plugs. Once it was over she closed it again, continuing to lead the way. “Now just fucking follow so I can get my stuff.” Oh yeah, she was pissed.

He didn’t realize what she was doing before it was too late, and the sound sent him to the ground almost immediately, letting out a pained cry as he struggled to protect his ears from the noise to no avail. It felt like forever before the sound stopped and he struggled to get up, a bit dazed, and able to feel the slight trickle of blood from his nose. He regained his senses and stumbled after her, eyes narrowed. That little bitch. At first he had just planned to mess with the Batter, but after that stunt, Alpha had made it on his blacklist as well. He clenched his teeth, following her carefully while struggling to search through his knapsack. He wasn’t playing nice anymore.

She huffed, continuing to lead onwards towards the exit of the mines, but once she climbed up the ladder she found herself in the amusement park center of zone 2. “Oh for fucks sakes…” She muttered, pausing as she looked at the ways she had to go to try and find out where to go next.

She stared at him, glad that her eyes were hidden under her hat. She was angry at what he said, and doubtful, yet for some reason his words scared her. Was that the truth of it all? Alpha kept asking herself. She shook her head quickly, turning around to continue leading the way. “…Just fucking follow me.” She said, not wanting to continue that subject anymore. She would try to avoid it.

"A surprisingly calm reaction," the merchant said cooly, following her diligently and replacing his mask. "Perhaps you still don’t quite believe me?" He simply shrugged his shoulders - he had planted the seeds of distrust, and that was more than enough. And even without seeing her eyes, he could tell he had gotten to her. This wouldn’t end well… and he’d enjoy every moment of suffering that would come to pass. I’m quite the sadist, he admitted silently, holding his head high as if it were something to be proud of.

"That’s enough about it. Not another word about your…your lie." She said sternly, keeping her eyes ahead as she got off the rail tracks and walked towards the mining tunnels of the zone. She was beginning to regret bringing him along. This was beginning to piss her off more then anything at the current moment. But what if it’s true? No, she couldn’t be thinking like that. She moved into the mines with a long sigh, slipping on her gauntlets just in case.

"Oh, so you do think I’m lying!” Zacharie couldn’t keep himself from laughing - the add-on’s denial of the Batter’s cruelty was pitifully adorable, like a kicked puppy. “I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you, friend, but your purifying partner isn’t quite what you think he is.” She was clearly stubborn on keeping her opinion of the Batter high… did he have anything that could prove it? He drew his sword cautiously as they entered the mines, before remembering a certain item that might just help him. 

Alpha bit her lower lip lightly in frustration. What would it take to get this damned merchant to shut up. “…” She got an idea. She quickly took a turn down one of the halls. If he did not shut up he’d be in for it, that was for sure.

She stopped infront of a chest, putting two things from her pocket into her ears like ear plugs to block any noise. “This is what I think about what you just said Zacharie.” Alpha said, kicking open the chest as a loud glitchy high pitched headache inducing screech came out from the chest for a good 30 seconds, alpha being fine due to her ear plugs. Once it was over she closed it again, continuing to lead the way. “Now just fucking follow so I can get my stuff.” Oh yeah, she was pissed.

FuuUUUuuck. He didn’t realize what she was doing before it was too late, and the sound sent him to the ground almost immediately, letting out a pained cry as he struggled to protect his ears from the noise to no avail. It felt like forever before the sound stopped and he struggled to get up, a bit dazed, and able to feel the slight trickle of blood from his nose. He regained his senses and stumbled after her, eyes narrowed. That little bitch. At first he had just planned to mess with the Batter, but after that stunt, Alpha had made it on his blacklist as well. He clenched his teeth, following her carefully while struggling to search through his knapsack. He wasn’t playing nice anymore.

She huffed, continuing to lead onwards towards the exit of the mines, but once she climbed up the ladder she found herself in the amusement park center of zone 2. "Oh for fucks sakes..." She muttered, pausing as she looked at the ways she had to go to try and find out where to go next.

She stared at him, glad that her eyes were hidden under her hat. She was angry at what he said, and doubtful, yet for some reason his words scared her. Was that the truth of it all? Alpha kept asking herself. She shook her head quickly, turning around to continue leading the way. “…Just fucking follow me.” She said, not wanting to continue that subject anymore. She would try to avoid it.

"A surprisingly calm reaction," the merchant said cooly, following her diligently and replacing his mask. "Perhaps you still don’t quite believe me?" He simply shrugged his shoulders - he had planted the seeds of distrust, and that was more than enough. And even without seeing her eyes, he could tell he had gotten to her. This wouldn’t end well… and he’d enjoy every moment of suffering that would come to pass. I’m quite the sadist, he admitted silently, holding his head high as if it were something to be proud of.

"That’s enough about it. Not another word about your…your lie." She said sternly, keeping her eyes ahead as she got off the rail tracks and walked towards the mining tunnels of the zone. She was beginning to regret bringing him along. This was beginning to piss her off more then anything at the current moment. But what if it’s true? No, she couldn’t be thinking like that. She moved into the mines with a long sigh, slipping on her gauntlets just in case.

"Oh, so you do think I’m lying!” Zacharie couldn’t keep himself from laughing - the add-on’s denial of the Batter’s cruelty was pitifully adorable, like a kicked puppy. “I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you, friend, but your purifying partner isn’t quite what you think he is.” She was clearly stubborn on keeping her opinion of the Batter high… did he have anything that could prove it? He drew his sword cautiously as they entered the mines, before remembering a certain item that might just help him. 

Alpha bit her lower lip lightly in frustration. What would it take to get this damned merchant to shut up. “…” She got an idea. She quickly took a turn down one of the halls. If he did not shut up he’d be in for it, that was for sure.

"Fu—" He had planned to take a moment to locate the proof, but her turn had taken him off guard, and he let out an aggravated breath as he turned after her, walking a tad faster to keep up. "Don’t get all angry now," he said, chuckling under his breath. He could tell that she was furious with him, and decided he had fucked things up enough. Well, for the time being, at least.

Alpha raised an eyebrow under her hat, tilting her head a bit. “Yeah, what about it?” She asked him as she walked along the rails. Did he…know something about the room? She was always fine with not knowing about it but, with the way he asked her made her curiousity peak out once again. “Is there actually something in there?”

"Yes, you could say that. Or, there was once, at least." Zacharie grinned maliciously from beneath his mask. "The Room was, in a way, the Batter’s domain. He used to live there, with wife and child. There he ruled the kingdom beside his Queen…" He chuckled softly, slowly pulling his mask up and gazing at her with narrowed eyes. "… and there he killed her, and their Prince." Ah, he’d actually liked Alpha. It was sad she had to hear such unfortunate news… and yet, she just simply had to be sacrificed for payback. Though he’d put it off as a warning towards her, of course. He was the hero, after all. And the Batter simply a beast.

That surely can’t be what reason he had to go into the room.” Alpha replied, adjusting her hat. He had to be lying. There was no way in hell that was the truth…was there?

"Do you think I’d joke about this?" he asked, his expression becoming quite serious. "It’s quite fortunate you didn’t have to witness it, really. I’ve heard it was quite brutal, even for him." He shook his head slowly, giving off a piteous image. "Though I didn’t dare look at the child’s corpse myself." Ah, poor thing. Clearly in denial about the Batter’s sins. Too bad he’d have to make her certain.

The end results, manages to delete everyone but me, change my appearance, lock off the room, and managed to glitch the file so badly that the file now likes to warp you at sheer random.” Alpha explained to the merchant, looking ahead again as she got to the rail tracks, walking along them now. “As for my batter, he’s gone too, deleted by the puppeteer himself right at the beginning of the room. I’ve searched for him but, he’s gone…”

Zacharie nodded his head, giving her a pitying frown. “Yes, puppeteers aren’t exactly the wisest people. They’ve got the power of gods, yet they always seem to abandon or harm their people.” He paused a minute as things linked in his mind, and he let out a soft “Ah!” as one particular thing registered. “So you haven’t seen The Room, have you!” he exclaimed, more than asked, grinning at her. If she hadn’t… this would be fun. He had said that the dear Batter would pay, after all. Who cared if it was money or trust he lost?
