none of these belong to ai. these are all what human writers have been writing since day one, way before ai was invented. ai was trained to mimic how human writers write — so em dash, not x not y but z and short sentence stacking would never have been used by ai at all if ai hadn’t learned and mimicked them from human writers.
no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.
speculations, accusations and ai witch hunt harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.
i made a very rough, quick piece of art of all of vis' kids from toe. hope you like it! i imagined it as a portrait that was "painted" just before baby and rhaenyra leave for dragonstone, but daeron ended up looking a lot older than he should and aemond looks a bit too young, so it's more of a "what felt right" interpretation than anything canon-accurate 😭

Oh, no, I totally don’t care about that! I think it’s a logical conclusion to come to, honestly—there’s only so many Ae- combination names you can get, after all. I’m glad they’re being used, it’s better than having the 5000th Visenya OC, LOL 😆 (ZERO hate to Visenyas, it’s a great solid Targaryen name and we’ve yet to encounter a live one in canon works, so go for it!).

It’ll be updated everywhere I’ve posted! Tumblr, AO3, Wattpad. I like everything to be clean and consistent so that I can push forward knowing it’s off my plate, hahaha. I actually have partially done; there’s an obvious tell about a third of the way into the fourth instalment, I think, where you can noticeably see where I’ve left off.

I'm hoping to get back into writing soon. Gotta do some work stuff first or I'll use writing as an excuse to leave it to the last minute, LOL.
I'm enjoying the season for what it is. It's making some choices that I'm unsure about, but I'll hold off until the end of the season before I weigh in on any of that. I'd like to see how the threads weave together (or don't) before I rush in with any concrete opinion. I'm really enjoying the dragon scenes, though, and DAEMON IS SO SWAG THIS SEASON! Honestly, if they do right by him, I'm ultimately happy. I do wish they'd stop shoving the Rhaenyra/Alicent angle at me, though, because I just don't buy it. It feels forced and it's undermining their respective development as characters for what feels like the sake of fan service. I'd find it much more compelling for a more visceral hatred to be exhibited, honestly.
But yeah, this is all I'll say for the time being. I do know that when I come to the Dance in ToE, I'll be scrapping a fair few of the show's takes, hahaha.
You have literally spoiled me when it comes to HV in any fanfics. Like given what I've read from you and what I see others write using AI or Auto translators - the quality honestly speaks for itself.
Aaaaaaah, thank you so much! Yeah, the translators just don't work, because it's not similar enough to English for a direct word-to-word translation to be possible. There's a bunch of factors you gotta take into account (namely, that the words change/adjust depending on the specific context in which they're being used; also, HV uses subject-object-verb agreement [i.e. "Daemon (at) Rhaenyra looked" instead of "Daemon looked at Rhaenyra"]) and sometimes it's just not possible to translate the EXACT sentence. You have to make do with semantic equivalents in order to work around the limitations.
I didn't start the fic with the intention of properly translating; I used a run-of-the-mill translator. But I had a commenter provide the correct translations (with the intention of making the fic live up to its potential more) and I really didn't want to continue harassing someone else for my translation needs, so I decided to try and figure out how to do it myself. I'm NOT perfect, and I know I've still got mistakes in there, but I'll chalk it up to slang in-universe, hahaha.

I did! I've listened to it (in parts, because it turns out that I literally cannot cope with hearing him do THAT directly in my ear. Apparently my instinct is for my circulatory system to simulate a stroke and my limbs to fling my headphones as far from my person as possible) and it was HOT.

With the new season of house of dragon out, do you think you’ll eventually go back to writing your story?
YES!
I will come back to writing. I'm actually (sneakily) going through a tiny edit of the series; you'll notice that I've slightly renamed one of the instalments but am only part-way through actually uploading the edits to that. Will be getting on that. I'm also doing a minor overhaul of the latest incomplete instalment as part of the writing burn out was finding that my pacing was very inconsistent and difficult to work my way out of. I want to extend parts of it, as I feel it jumps from a very significant and pertinent reflection of real and genuine struggle just so I could indulge my kink for writing smut, LOL. There needs to be more breathing space between most of the chapters, actually. I'll upload those when I'm ready, haha.

Real life has been chock-full of hurdles and deadlines, so I’m very productive; enough so that I’ve not had time to really engage in anything involving a broader sense of community. I’m not back by any means—I’ve promised that before, and it’s always fallen through—but I’ve decided to just not commit to anything and see where stuff goes. Casual, like. I’ve missed being part of the fandom, but I’m not going out of my way to reinsert myself. Happy to just stick to my tiny little dark corner and yeet out whatever small, sporadic thing comes to mind every once in a while. Maybe even fic updates, someday. Maybe soon. Maybe not. Who knows? Alas, not me.

It’s super nice to be watching the show just to watch the show, honestly. Being away from writing for so long has sorta reset my brain and brought back all the happy vibes, so I was actually super excited to watch this first episode.
First of all, do I think the whole ‘Alicent plans to let Rhaenyra into the city and surrender’ plotline is stupid? Yeah, LOL. Not for the idea itself, but in that Alicent is CONSTANTLY yo-yo-ing around and it’s hard to take her seriously. Like, I would find her far more likeable if she was a diehard Aegon defender; she spent all those years setting it up, and for what? The merest possibility of renewing a teenage friendship that fizzled because she married Rhaenyra’s dad? Annoying. It also annoys me how Helaena is literally the QUEEN and yet has absolutely no agency—let the girl speak, goddamn.
I saw the Alicent/Aemond thing coming from a MILE away. From the very first season, LOL. Not at all surprised by it, though I don’t think I have exactly the same take on it as everyone else. I don’t exactly think he’s wildly hot for his mummy; I think it’s a sort of love-hate relationship where he’s simultaneously put her on this pedestal of idealised matronly perfection AND also reviles her for neglecting him/turning him into the monster he’s become. The kiss to me read as a) a test of loyalty (to see how far he can push the boundaries and assert that finally, HE’S the one in control in their dynamic) and b) a humiliation ritual (to punish his mother for all her many perceived failings against him). There’s also very likely a good deal of possessive jealousy manifesting there: she’s HIS, but because she never seemed to really step into the motherly role for him the way he wanted, what she technically IS to him has been warped and perverted in his mind. There is SO much here psychosexually speaking, and I’m honestly very intrigued by this step they’ve taken!
Rhaenyra did a fat load of nothing, so I hope that changes soon. Too much dithering mercy; I wanna see the heads roll and the walls crumble from the sheer force of her fury. The writers seem to have a real commitment issue when it comes to the female characters; they’re all so frustratingly complacent and sidelined in their own fucking story. MAKE them evil whore psychos, PLEASE.
I’m still confused as hell by the Rhaena/Sheepstealer storyline, though I have my personal predictions about where that’s headed. I’m annoyed as fuck that they cut Nettles—and I’m hoping that, if Rhaena really is replacing her, the writers have the balls to follow through to the proper conclusion. Based on the Aemond/Alicent scene, I’m optimistic! And while I find the decision to frame Rhaena as the one to blame for the tragedy at the end of the episode as odd at the very least (and all the -ists at the most; why is the young black girl being added to the battle to ensure that a prominent and well-liked character is killed off? Yet another example of these showrunners going out of their way to disrespect the POC characters THEY MADE POC). In the context of the massive changes they’ve made to Rhaenyra’s temperament, I can sorta see why the original reason she turns against Nettles wouldn’t work here, so I’ll suspend true criticism until I see the payoff.
And…. No. My boy. My dude. God, that ending was just……. I knew it was coming, but why did they have to DO me like that????? It was beautifully planned and executed. And I hated it, LOL. A truly haunting scene that I dunno if I can sleep tonight without replaying. I can’t even really expound on this, because it hurts me in my soul. I need five business days to recover.
As for all of the other scenes, I don’t have anything significant to say. They alright. Cool beans. I liked the glimpse of who I assume is Daeron; I’ve heard rumours the red hair is a wig or dye or something to make him less recognisable, but honestly the guy might just have been a squire. Aegon and Larys amused me; Criston Cole was depressing, eh?
AND MY DADDY DAAAAAAAEMON!!!!! I love watching him murder people and commit acts of war and savagery. Some men just look the best covered in blood. It’s so NICE seeing him back on my screen being swag as fuck. Loved seeing the Stark soldiers!
In conclusion, a lot of this comes off waaaaay more negative than I actually intended. I really, really enjoyed this episode. It FELT good, and Jace’s death made the whole thing seem more high-stakes than last season (I KNOW Rhaenys died, but I’m so sorry, I feel like we didn’t have much time to invest emotionally in her, so it didn’t hit as hard as it could’ve). Some plot points are odd, but I want to see where they go before I cast any kind of aspersions. I’m not a canon purist by any means, so the changes are only going to bother me if the ultimate result is shit, LOL.
And finally, regardless of where the story goes, I know I’m going to enjoy the fuck out of it because everyone in the show is a HELL of an actor. YAAAAAY for Season 3!
