Get outside of yourself for a little while.

Tonight as I wait for the stars to fade from my mind's eye

I remember that sparkle that is you and you alone

Maybe I have hidden how much I miss you.

I'm not bound by silence, but I have no words.

My words escape when I try to speak... My voice won't let me explain.

Only music and humming. 

I'm warmed by the thought of you and your smile.

Nobody's eyes shine like yours. Not even in dreams.

I remember when we tasted salt and chocolate. 

The sound of the rain, the waves, the wind. 

The look that challenges me to be stronger and better. 

The feeling of rocks under my feet.

Trying to step where you step. Trying to have faith.

I remember the smell of damp forest and the mountains in spring.

I remember the smell of that house, that air. 

Tonight as I drift off into the cloudy haze of dreaming, I pause.

Remembering is more vivid, more compelling and satisfying than dreaming.
