the moment with "diamonds for the information" got everybody confused. i didn't understand it until cat pointed it out for me.
"diamonds for the information" doesn't mean that the information has to be wildcard-related.
grian could've said that the sky is blue and the grass is green for that diamond, but he said this. he should've planned this beforehand. he was waiting for this moment, from mumbo, specifially.

i'm not even sure that i got everything skin- and appearance-related in this post. there surely were more moments in season 7 during the mayoral race and in season 8 during mumbo's potato boy arc. but you can see, generally, how long it has really been. ever since they've met. when mumbo is around and when he's not. his face, his features, his style.
this wasn't wildcard related. it was just a confession. right time, right place.
