“Oooh like what?  I love a good shopping story!”

“Who doesnt? I’ll trade you one. You’ve gotta have a few good ones of your own, yeah?”

“Saving money is so difficult.  I don’t know how you do it, it’s burning holes in my pockets!”

“It’s definitely not easy. Carl’s had to talk me out of a few hasty purchases, I’ll admit.”

“I’m getting married.” Taran laughed a little breathlessly, grinning to himself. It still felt surreal, to be able to say that. Better than a lifetime of daydreams. “Someone ought to pinch me.”

“I’ll do it, but it’ll hurt a lot. My pinches are pretty strong.”

“I can’t wait to go shopping with all my extra tips, that’s for sure.”

Ellie laughed. “Yeah, I bet. It’s been a while since I’ve done that. Carl and I are saving our money right now.”

Kari swallowed, and took her hand back to grab something else. “So, how are you today, Ellie?” 

“Doing pretty good. How are you?”

“Yeah, getting to be around the busiest time of year, actually.”

“Really? Not surprising.”

“Yeah, getting to be around the busiest time of year, actually.”

“Really? That’s not surprising.”

It’s junior adult, actually.  I’m not a kid.
