Wait I have more
My mom likes to say âNot my circus, not my monkeys, but I do know the clowns.â
one of the best ways iâve found to combat that inherent depressive pessimism without veering into toxic positivity territory is simply the phrase âiâm open to the possibilityâ
this particularly works with anything negative iâve forecasted. âi woke up feeling like shit today, so my day is gonna suckâ isnât a particularly helpful thought, but âitâs a great day to be alive!!!!!â feels hollow and insincere when i have a pounding headache & am running on three hours of sleep
instead iâll tell myself, âi really donât feel good right now, but iâm open to the possibility that coffee and breakfast might perk me up a bit.â or âiâm in a lot of pain today, but iâm open to the possibility that my workday might still have fun parts despite thatâ
sometimes, when your impulse is to slam the door on anything good, but youâre not exactly up to going out & hunting it down yourself, leaving the door open just a crack makes all the difference
This helped me today hope it helps someone else too

I feel like I read a book about this in school. I feel like this was required reading. I also feel like my local children's museum has an entire fucking exhibit on this.
colour keys for my imaginary sequel if the first one has "not all demons are evil" then i'd looove the next one to be "not all evil is demonic"

Science fiction is full of first contact stories, but is there a such thing as LAST contact? Decide exactly what that means, and write about it.
It was too late, when the humans came. They were a young species, still exploring outwards, vital and thriving.Â
We⌠were not.Â
War had ravaged us, and sickness, and war once again, until our population dwindled beyond the point of recovery. We struggled against that, of course⌠we used genetic manipulation, and cloning, and even more desperate measures. None succeeded. When the humans came, we were sinking into apathy, only a few tens of us left. We had begun to discuss whether we should commit a mass suicide, or simply wait to fade away.Â
And then the young species came, in their clumsy ships, and they asked us why we were so few.Â
âWe are becoming extinct,â we told them. âWe have passed the point of recovery.âÂ
It is custom to avoid the races that are dying â once a species reaches the point of inevitable extinction, even war is suspended, and the fiercest enemy pulls back. The custom was born of plagues and poisons that could be carried forth from a dying world to afflict a healthy one, but it has the implacable weight of tradition now. After we are gone, after they have waited for the prescribed period of quarantine, there will be a fight for our world. Habitable worlds are few, and this is a good one, with plenty of free groundwater and thriving vegetation. It is a bitter thing to be grateful for the custom that allows us to die in peace, but we are grateful.
But the humans donât know that custom, and they do not leave. They seem distraught, when we tell them we are dying, and try to offer their aid - but their technology is behind ours, and it is too late. When they realize that they canât save us, though, they do something that bewilders us.Â

this is so deeply beautiful, and the energy I needed today.
honestly christianity really hit the jackpot with "jesus christ" rolling off the tongue as an expletive so well. the number one problem with fantasy settings is that whatever names you come up with to take in vain will never hit as well as "jesus christ"
this guy gets it!!!!! this is the kind of rock solid phonetic structural integrity you have to compete with!!!! and no amount of marika's tits or thal's balls or odin's beards will ever get close because with ol jeezy boy his name alone has all the features you need

Corn dogs are named for their traditional meat, the unicorn. As unicorns are now extinct, they can only be referred to properly as âCorn Dogs and not âUnicorn Dogsâ as they were prior to 2009.
This is actually a common misconception! While the Unicorn Dog did exist and was discontinued following the extinction of unicorns in 2009, the Corn Dog is not a rebranding of the Unicorn Dog! The Corn Dog was created in 2003 by James H. Corn, though it remained a relatively unpopular Ohio treat until 2010 when Mr. Corn took the opportunity left by the Unicorn Dogâs exit from the market to take over the niche.
Yeah okay ill reblog that

This was shared as a "bad" joke but I was so charmed by it I've been thinking about it for days.
Moose at the next table: No they don't. I've been waiting here for an hour.
Tatiana Maslany was literally insane for playing like 12 different people with the same face and then interacting with multiple versions of herself for five whole seasons
she really Did That⢠and we are all incredibly grateful
No! No, but here's the important thing! She did it so flawlessly, that you would actually forget these characters are the same actress.
I found myself feeling bad for the actor who plays Alison's husband, because "he never gets to work with Maslany," because in my head I kept equating her with Sarah, when literally he only worked with Maslany!
The special effects were so seemless, and her performances were so flawless that we have never seen this gimmick done this effectively, this naturally. And I don't think we ever will again.
She deserved that emmy.
Itâs impossible to describe how phenomenally good a job Maslany did with these characters. Like, it wasnât just that she played every one of these characters so genuinely and distinctly that you forgot they were the same actress. It was also that the characters, being clones, would deceive people by playing each other.
Alison would be on the screen, and youâd be like, âthatâs Alisonâ. Then Sarah would be on the screen, and youâd be like, âthatâs Sarahâ. Then someone who looked exactly like Sarah would be on the screen, and youâd be like, âOh, Alison is pretending to be Sarah.â And some of the clones were better at pretending to be each other than other clones were. And you could always tell who you were looking at and who they were trying to imitate.
I remember watching an Orphan Black panel and comic con thinking where is the rest of the cast!! SGE IS THE CAST!!! So talented.
Totally forgot when watching she was one person
"the world isn't kind" ok??? Much more importantly are you?????
"the world isnt kind" skill issue. I am
people think they shouldn't vote as a protest or whatever because they've been raised on boycotts. which do sometimes work.
boycotts deprive the target of money.
not voting does not deprive the government of money.
it does, however, deprive you of power.
it's not like a boycott.
Technically true.
He got the job.
He takes his job seriously.

happy birthday someone
I like reblog going this becaUSE WHAT IF YOU SAW THIS ON YOUR BIRTHDAY HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE
Iâm going to make an âanalysisâ post about this two tiny shots/acting excellence from KTY because I think there is so much to it that it needs to be talked about.
The first one is this:
When Beatrice tells Ava she doesnât want to go with Miguel and sheâll see Ava at home, thereâs a sadness in her face, a longing plea to not pursue this - to stay in this tiny little bubble theyâve created. Where itâs just them against the world.
The more Ava reaches out to people, the more she sees of the world beyond the two of them, the more Beatrice is afraid Ava will believe what Beatrice believes about herself - that she isnât good enough. Isnât valuable enough. Isnât useful enough.
Isnât worthy of love, of Avaâs love.
Obviously, this is all in Beaâs head, Ava is in love with her already at this point, weâve seen it here:
But to Beatrice, who Ava has pulled out of her shell so much in their time together, thereâs still this part of her that is trapped in self-loathing - in the things she was told and the way she was treated growing up.
That sheâs no good, that her love is wrong and that she is more of a tool than a person - while Ava has this light and energy that she could never reach or contain or be strong enough to hold on to.
It comes up again here:
When Ava comments on Beatriceâs âeasy on the eyesâ line, you can just see how it affects Bea. Thereâs this rift in Beatrice that you can feel throughout the first two episodes of season 2 - I think in this scene when Ava calls her out for her jealousy and makes this comment, it hurts Bea more than she says because it plays into the doubts in her mind that sheâs too wrong, too tainted and too different to ever really have a chance with Ava.
Like if the halo and Adriel and the OCS and all of it fell away, why would Ava go for someone like her when she could have literally anyone?
Itâs just little things (I could make a whole post about Albaâs acting choices too because theyâre both so fucking talented itâs altered my brain on the importance of performance) but these subtle things are a part of what make these two and their love story so special.
