“I’m very curious… what type of protocore is this?”
The odd-colored protocore you extracted earlier that day had seemed completely stable—until Valko’s relentless curiosity got the better of him.
One moment he was poking at its faintly glowing surface, and the next, a soft pop echoed through the room. A puff of iridescent smoke cleared to reveal a tiny, palm-sized Valko sitting amidst the dust, blinking up at you in dazed confusion.
“Hmm? Huh?!” Valko stands on the couch, looking at you like a giant, “why are you suddenly big?”
“No! You’re the one shrinking!”
“Wait—what?!” He looks at himself and to his back, spinning around likt it will change anything.
“And I was about to stop you…!” Before panic could set in, you gently scooped him up. He fit so comfortably in the center of your hand, his miniature boots barely taking up any space at all. Instead of being annoyed or flustered by his sudden shrinkage, Valko melted into your touch, leaning his little weight right against your fingers with a content sigh.
He looked up at you, his tiny face lighting up as the perks of his situation dawned on him.
“Hey, think about it!” he chirped, kicking his tiny legs happily as you petted his head with a single fingertip. “I don’t need to get back to work and I could stay with you!”
What little panic was about to bloom is washed away with his words. You let out a soft laugh, adjusting him so he could lean comfortably against your palm. “Koko, you’re supposed to be finding a way to fix this.”
“Fix it? Why?” He beamed, practically purring as you stroked his back. “I could stay like this forever. Look, you can keep me in your pocket! I promise I can be quiet when you work!”
You couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. But as you reached for a snack on the desk to settle your own nerves, his miniature nose twitched instantly.
“Is that chocolate I smell??” he gasped, sitting bolt upright.
“It is,” you hummed, unwrapping a small bar. “But you’re tiny right now, Valko. You can’t eat too much!”
“But this is just one bar?” he protested, pointing frantically at it.
You couldn't even argue. You set the bar down next to him, and the sight was utterly ridiculous—the chocolate bar was literally bigger than his entire body. Watching him try to tackle it, holding a single square with both tiny hands and taking adorable bites, was far too sweet to handle.
Overcome by the cuteness of it all, you leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss right to the top of his fluffy hair.
A flash of light enveloped your hand, and in a second, the heavy weight of a full-sized Valko sent you tumbling backward onto the couch.
He let out a bright and booming laugh, sitting over you with a triumphnt grin. Catching his breath, he leaned down and gave you the sweetest peck on the lips.
“Apparently I need a kiss from my princess,” he murmured fondly, his eyes crinkling with warmth as he wrapped his arms around you, completely refusing to let go. “Too bad. I was looking forward to stay in your pocket!”
As a matter of fact I might put him on my pocket just to hear him whispering commenting about what I do all day 🥹💖
