Hair Cream for Fine, Low Porosity and/or Curly Hair
I absolutely love this cream and I’ve been using it with great results for a few months now. Here’s a little more information on the ingredients I used: Herbal hair tea promotes growth and strength for you hair. Read more about it here. BMTS-50 is an excellent conditioner, and also serves as the emulsifier (combining the water and oil with no separation) in this formula. Citric acid lowers the pH…

Cranberry Mousse Soap
Experimenting with oils and butters and soap and other ingredients can be fun, but also expensive. If you make something that turns out to be garbage, then, it’s worth it to try and salvage what you have. This is the story about a DIY that went from bad to worse to worst, and then a silver lining. This is some jelly soap I made using leftover bars of cranberry melt and pour. The soap base was…

Moroccan Black Soap/Beldi/Savon Noire Recipe
Moroccan Black Soap/Beldi/Savon Noire Recipe
Moroccan black soap, also known as beldi and savon noire, is a soap that doesn’t really act like a soap. It doesn’t lather and its cleansing properties are almost nil. This soap, however, is incredibly useful in its own way. Moroccan black soap, made from olive oil and olive paste, has been used in traditional Hammam rituals for centuries to soften and aid in the exfoliation of skin. The texture…

Cranberry Mousse Soap
Experimenting with oils and butters and soap and other ingredients can be fun, but also expensive. If you make something that turns out to be garbage, then, it's worth it to try and salvage what you have. This is the story about a DIY that went from bad to worse to worst, and then a silver lining.
This is some jelly soap I made using leftover bars of cranberry melt and pour. The soap base was white, so it didn't turn out very jello looking, and the coloring came out blotchy and uneven. So I decided to cut it up, in the hope to disguise the many, many imperfections.
If, for any reason, you wanted to make some soap that looks exactly like raw meat, I have the recipe for you. So I thought, if the pieces were really, really tiny, it might look a little better. I put it in a food processor, which ended up just whipping the soap and making it frothy.
I wasn't expecting it to turn out this way, so I don't have many pictures, but it actually turned out really well. Not all of the jelly soap got whipped, and the little pieces added visual interest. The lather is pretty good; less bubbly and more lotion-y. It also left my skin very soft. Because of all the bubbles created during the whipping process, the texture is less of a cream and more of a mousse. It held its shape and texture very well though.
So, if you''d like to make a soap mousse, just throw some jelly soap in a food processor. And if you find yourself with a project that didn't turn out the way you intended, just throw it in a food processor. Or something.
