Having stood on the side walk in the humid Vievecor summer day for hours, would of exhausted a regular human but it was just another day for the deity. The latest pastry had come out from the go to, it girl pastry shop of the season and Lindley just had to get it for her viewers. Sure she didn't need to eat but she always had enjoyed in indulging in the culinary feats of mortals.
"Oh!!!" Her exclamation was enough to grab the attention of other pedestrians still waiting in line, their faces unamused. Sliding her thighs against the old leather seats in the back she leaned forward planting a kiss on his check. "The old man, my hero!"
Elio chuckled, grinning at Lindley’s open affection and the nickname. “What are you up to, sweetheart? Still using tech to make a name for yourself and gain more followers?” It was still wild to him how technology had contributed to his own demise with his following yet ironically had contributed to the rise of influencers— a modern mortal gaining a following not unlike a deity. Lindley utilizing it to gain her own following was amusing and intelligent in many ways to the ancient being. She had adapted beautifully to the changing times.

“Didn’t need to,” Elio countered almost immediately, giving a challenging look as he met the other’s gaze. Even intoxicated, it was apparent Matthew had needed the help— yet was never one who would verbalize such a need. “Pretend I do,” he added, thinking of anything it was Matthew who should be taking a break. Elio could have easily kept going, still able to take care of himself quite well even in an intoxicated state.
Matthew had never witnessed Elio in such a state before and he held that challenging if slightly hazy look through his own narrowed, judgemental eyes for a long moment. He knew what Elio was implying with those words and it was best that he ignored them.
"Come along," he said instead and fisted a hand in the deity's coat to drag him out of the hallway, which thankfully was on the second floor of the club, and towards the private room he had for himself. With Elio behind him, Matthew felt less anxious about walking amongst the partying vampires who parted easily for them.
The fallen deity pushed the door to his private room open to let them in to the blessedly empty space before he released Elio's coat. "Sit." Was all he said as he moved into the room to settle himself on the large couch inside.
Elio was hardly surprised Matthew had a private room. It was a relief none the less though, as he had been hoping Matthew would take extra precautions during the festival.
“You shouldn’t be wandering alone at this thing,” Elio thought aloud as he gave a quick glance around the room Matthew had dragged him into. He slipped into the seat as instructed however, not minding the request. “A room like this is great, but pointless if you’re unable to get to it before things get out of hand. Didn’t you come with anyone tonight?”
Ayumu was in the basement of Ware when one of their hosts come down to whisper in their ear about a certain guest who just arrived. The spirit had been wondering when, if ever, Elio would return to this establishment after their last interaction and they were mildly surprised that it was so soon.
They excused themself from the card table they were at and made their way upstairs to find the deity sitting at the bar with a drink in his hand. How curious and Ayumu could not help but let curiosity win as they sauntered over and slid a long-fingered hand across the counter.
"Fancy seeing you at Ware again, Mister Del Vecchio," they said, a smile across their lips even if their eyes remained sharp and alert. "To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"Ayumu," Elio greeted in a neutral tone, not surprised to see the spirit shortly after his arrival. At very least, he'd been served already, which allowed him to take a long sip from his glass before engaging the figure before him further. "Just curious if you've had any deities pay you a visit since I last did. Perhaps... hired any?"
Normally people were more subtle about the magic they used without asking permission but parties like this helped them forget. It was one of the view instances where you didn't have to hide. Lian had thought a deity would have some decorum so she tried not to look so surprised at the blunt question. "Wouldn't you like to know," the witch answered, playing it off with a laugh as she gently tapped the deities nose. "I only share that kind of thing with people I share my bed with and you haven't even bought me a drink yet."
"Oh, well that's easily remedied," Elio responded, pleasantly surprised by the witch's forwardness. He gave her a curious glance, one eyebrow arched as he asked, "What's your usual?"
Matthew wanted to scoff again, but tensed when he felt Elio's wrist suddenly close around his own and a feeling of warmth enveloped his body. There were a number of people doing things to him without his consent that evening, but the energy he was regaining through the deity's magic actually made him feel physically better.
"Hey..." he chided again and tugged his wrist from Elio's hand, though it lacked any urgency or bite to it. "I didn't say that you could do that..." But Matthew was already feeling less dizzy and he reached a hand out to Elio's shoulder to steady the other man. "Do you need a place to rest?" he asked, extending that olive branch. Elio had just cured him after all.

If asked, Elio would assure he'd accepted Elena leaving some time ago... At least, that's what he told himself; that she'd left and he'd accepted it. Not that she might have ceased for all he knew, or really, didn't know. That he hadn't accepted it.
And it certainly wasn't why he'd taken to having a drink in damn near every bar in the city, slowly canvassing it in hopes of some shred of evidence. Night after night he left disappointed, and tonight had been no different as he had dared to step back foot in Ware after some time, this time stopping at the bar he'd ignored on previous visits. He ordered a glass and got comfy, never one to leave immediately after failing to see Elena. No, he'd sit as he always did. Make small talk with the bartenders or other patrons, and leave when it was last call. It was the only way he felt sure.
“I and I alone decide when it’s needless. Egotistical self important deity, remember?” His tone was half joking and half not as he spoke, requesting, “Let me see the wound.” While he was certainly not about to knock whatever healer saw to Matthew prior, his ego and pride insisted their abilities were surely no match for a deity such as himself.
Matthew's lips thinned into a line. They were doing this then. He turned himself around, eyes searching Elio's face for any signs of wavering -- even when he knew the deity would not -- before he lifted his hands to undo the top few buttons of his pajama shirt. It hurt a lot less to do this now that some of his pain had been dulled, but he could still feel the ailments of his body in other ways.
He tugged the shirt open on the side of the wound, revealing the ugly bullet hole that had barely scarred over. Matthew did not think it was ever going to and his mood soured even further because of it.
-----------
Elio’s gaze examined the wound carefully as Matthew exposed it, stepping closer and reaching out both physically as well as with his magic to examine it. His initial impression was not favorable, although he did not let it show. Something about it just felt… Off.
The deity’s eyes gave off their typical, eerie glow, iris’ dimmed with a ghostly white as he called upon his magic. His brows knit together in frustration, the only tell that he was having trouble healing the bullet wound. He had tried everything to quite literally take the wound from Matthew, and yet had been able to do nothing at all, forced to settle for simply tricking Matthew’s nervous system into believing it wasn’t quite as severe, effectively lessening the pain. Even that however, he could only mitigate, and not resolve entirely.
Elio had healed thousands of similar bullet wounds over the years, but they had never been caused by magic like his own. No, a deity could heal with blessing magic and also could harm, but those harmed by it were demons— not unlike Matthew— and a deity looking to undo such a thing was practically blasphemous. His magic was, for all intents and purposes, useless.
His hand recoiled as if he had been burned, shocked into a stupor. For all the time Elio had existed, it was exceedingly rare he was faced with a situation that left him feeling powerless. “I’m sorry,” he offered gently, explaining, “Blessing Magic cannot counter other blessing magic… Only add to it. If I were to try further, I might only risk worsening matters.”
-----------
Matthew winced when he felt the deity's magic seep into the wound to try to heal it, the warmth of something so pure felt like it was making the bullet hole throb and his hand closed tightly around the edge of the kitchen counter as he bit back another pained noise. He looked up at Elio only to find an expression on the man's face that he had not seen before, one of helpless frustration because Matthew could also tell that Elio's magic was not working as he thought it would.
He leaned back heavily against the counter when Elio stepped away, knowing that this should be hurting more if not for what magic the deity did manage to work into his system that acted like an anaesthetic -- for now. Matthew drew in a shaky breath before exhaling. "How annoying..." he said flippantly in am attempt to hide his disappointment because he had some small kernel of hope that someone as powerful as Elio would be able to counteract the white magic in his body, but that was not the case.
"Can you not even just remove the scar?" Matthew looked down at the wound, hating how it kept staring back at him in all its ugliness.
-----------
“I could hide it?” Elio couldn’t help the disappointment evident in his own voice. Short of throwing Matthew into a slumber reminiscent of Sleeping Beauty, he was at a loss as to how to alleviate Matthew of the wound’s existence until it healed. “Removing it would imply healing on some level… I could try to hide it with illusion magic, although I admit even that concerns me because of if someone were to brush against it, and cause you more pain unintentionally. If you don’t care about that risk however, I will at least try to hide it for you.”
-----------
"Hide it," Matthew's response was immediate. What was a some pain and discomfort over the illusion of perfection? "That was what I was going to do once my powers returned." If they returned, the voice in Matthew's head reminded him and his mood dulled once more.
-----------
Elio gave a curt nod. “Do you want it hid from just others? Or yourself as well?”
-----------
"I don't want to see it!" Matthew responded perhaps a bit too sharply, his eyes darting away from the look Elio was giving him, sure that his roiling emotions were already giving away what he was truly feeling.
-----------
Elio might have flinched, had he not felt the other’s wave of emotions prior. He himself was still reeling from the fact Matthew had such a deep wound from blessing and white magic, the scar committed to his memory as his palm all but wiped it off of Matthew’s skin a moment later, hiding it to the naked eye. He could still feel the pain it was still causing Matthew though— both physically and mentally.
“It should remain hidden until it heals,” he confirmed, warily adding, “If not… let me know, and I can assist again.” After all, he wasn’t sure just how long it would even take to heal— or if his magic might wear faster for some reason due to the nature of the wound itself.
-----------
The illusion of the wound healing over in Matthew's eyes made him feel marginally better, even if he could still feel that there was something wrong with his body.
"And if it doesn't heal?" he asked out loud, more to just voice a thought that had been plaguing him since he got shot. This wound was unlike the more surface ones he suffered from his prior depowering from a spell bomb. This one seemed much more cruel to demonkind.
-----------
“I will find a way to make sure it does,” Elio responded without hesitation, although he honestly had no clue. He would have to research the use of blessing magic more with regard to demons… Inquire more about the weapon used… He certainly hoped Matt began to heal more naturally, but if not, he knew he would find himself looking into matter personally.
-----------
Matthew looked back up at Elio, eyes searching and only finding sincerity in the deity's face. Oddly enough, he found himself believing that Elio would do just that and he felt some of the tension leave his body as he gingerly tugged his pajama shirt closed. He gave the other man a slight nod. "Would you... like a drink?"
-----------
The deity felt confused by the offer and shook his head. “I’m not sure that’s the best idea right now,..” Elio was still upset with Matthew and as much as he wanted to forgive Matthew, he simply couldn’t. There was also the matter of Matthew’s state. “Should you even be drinking, all things considered? Is the wound impacting your tolerance?”
-----------
"Hah!" Matthew laughed bitterly. "Drinking is the least of my concerns." He had been given some human medication in some vague attempt at healing his body the mundane way, but Matthew hardly cared about taking them properly or heeding the 'no alcohol' guideline that came with it. "You drinking should be of zero concern to you."
-----------
“Well then I would prefer not to upset you further, all things considered,” Elio excused again, gesturing to Matthew’s chest. Perhaps Matthew had forgotten their last interaction, but Elio certainly had not.
-----------
"You're not upsetting me..." Matthew responded with a wave of his hand, taking Elio's presence in his home to mean that the deity was willing to forgive even if that might not be the case. "This is upsetting me," he said and poked his finger into his own chest and earned himself a visceral wince for his efforts.
-----------
Elio sighed. He wasn’t looking to start appearing at Liber again, nor would he tolerate Matthew’s antics if he showed up unannounced only to berate him again. Bringing it up while Matthew was in such a state felt inappropriate however, and he wasn’t sure how to address matters.
“Matthew… Why do you think it took you almost dying for me to show up here?”
-----------
Blue eyes darted over to Elio's face when the man asked that question. What did Elio mean by that? It sounded like a trick question.
"Has this sorry state of mine finally warranted your forgiveness?" he hazarded a guess. Why was Elio bringing this up when he was already right here in his home?
-----------
“No, actually. I came because I was concerned, but it doesn’t give you a pass for your bullshit this past winter,” Elio clarified calmly. “Nearly dying doesn’t absolve you of my disappointment.”
-----------
"Concerned?" Matthew repeated before he dragged his gaze away from Elio's face, the corners of his lips turning downwards. It was not surprising that Elio was concerned and yet there was a small part in the fallen deity that was actually glad that he decided to pay him a visit despite their strained relationship.
"Then will dying do the trick?" he asked in return, mostly to be difficult because what else was he going to say now that it was fact that Elio still had not forgiven him.
-----------
Elio rolled his eyes at the demon’s antics, taking a step towards Matthew. “I’ll make it painfully clear since apparently I haven’t been direct enough in my anger,” he warned, gaze locked on Matthew’s as he got arguably uncomfortably close.
“My sympathies towards our shared history have all but dried up. While it was unfortunate, I’ve never wanted that to define our relationship as it exists today. If I say something or do something that you’re not wanting of, I expect you to be direct moving forward. No more horse shit avoiding me or the topic. And certainly no more blaming me solely for the fallout of your choices,” Elio demanded softly, his gaze pained. “I am not your servant nor are you entitled to anything from me. You are my equal, as I am yours. And if you treat me otherwise again, I won’t hesitate to remind you how much you hate me. So no, dying won’t do the trick. I can be every bit as stubborn as you, but I am not vindictive and much prefer an apology.”
-----------
Matthew drew in a breath when Elio stepped up into his space and he backed himself against the counter. The deity's expression looked serious even when that low voice was soft as he laid it all out again, even going further than their last encounter to address what Matthew knew of the reason Elio started spending more time around him in the first place. The deity's guilt over their shared history had been something Matthew gladly exploited up till now, but it was abundantly clear that the currency had run out and the fallen deity's usual antics to get under Elio's skin and be forgiven, even in his current severely weakened state, were not going to work anymore.
"Is that what you came here for as well? To check up on me and to collect on a good old fashioned 'sorry'?" he returned, voice just as soft, his lower lip jutting out defiantly. There was still something about Elio and their shared past that instilled his kneejerk reaction in the fallen deity.
-----------
“No,” Elio answered, lips curling into a disappointed frown as his shoulders sagged in what felt like defeat. “You’re incapable of granting me that it seems,” Elio excused softly, adding, “Just like I’m incapable of healing this wound,” as he tapped on fabric of Matthew’s robe just above it. His gaze swung to the wound briefly as he spoke before meeting Matthew’s again. “I will check on Liber personally, if you’d like. The barrier magic on both of your establishments is stable though, so there should be no issues in your absence.”
He stepped back and turned away, more casually adding, “I do hope you are avoiding going in public much however without an escort. I don’t have faith the peace will last if I’m honest. Maybe swallow your pride and give Elijah a ring? See if he can provide some enchanted items that might offer protection until you’re you again.“
-----------
Matthew tensed when Elio lifted his finger to tap near the site of his now magically hidden wound and was only able to release a held breath when the man finally stepped back. It was so frustrating that Elio still radiated deity even through his disappointment, a stark reminder of how different they were now that Matthew had fallen from Grace. And yet, Matthew had to wonder if he had ever been able to put his own hurt and feelings aside like this before. Had he ever been able to do as Elio was able to in the face of such adversity and animosity? He could barely remember what he was like in his previous life anymore and the stark difference between them in the moment was a sobering one.
"Rest assured that I'm already avoiding all of that." And that was all Matthew was able to address, his pride refusing to allow him anything else as he turned away from having to look at Elio. He could not acknowledge anything else, least of all Elio's continued kindness. The hand Matthew had fisted against the countertop was trembling, being the only thing giving away his state of mind, body and soul. "I'm not seeing you out..." were the final words he said softly as Matthew waited for Elio to let himself out of his home.
-----------
Elio turned and approached Matthew as the former deity turned his back to him. Elio rested his palm over the back of Matthew’s for the briefest moment as he acknowledged, “I know,” before disappearing in a flash of light.
The contact didn't have the effect Arjun expected. It was meant to be a comfort, but that's not what he saw when he looked across at him. That smile… that defeated look in his eyes when he spoke, was a clear sign that they had hit a wall.
As Elio pulled away to rub the bridge of his nose and muttered his apology, Arjun did quite the opposite, remaing exactly as he was. Close and with his hand on his lap, "..is that what you want? To leave?" It felt a bit anticlimactic. Not to mention hurtful, in an oddly selfish way. Was Arjun not enough...again? Not even as a friend? "Because..we don't have to speak about this, if it's making you feel a certain way. I'm quite happy to ...do whatever. You know, this hotel has a nice pool..a cocktail bar, we could have some fun."
“What I want is inconsequential,” Elio muttered to himself, forcing a smile and waving off the concern. He hesitated though as he considered Arjun's latter words, the smile faltering. He could feel the hurt emanating off of Arjun, and he couldn't help but feel bad he'd swung by at all. "You've been hurting and I swung by hoping to cheer you up. Now I've made a mess of it and somehow you're the one treating me with kid gloves," he mused aloud. His gaze flickered over Arjun appreciatively as he also somewhat jokingly added, "And not that I mind, but unless you know the hotel owner, he might have an issue with you wandering the property in your current state of dress."
Lian had never been comfortable around deities. They were the god's and she was actively trying to defy the gods when she meddled with magic. Those thoughts needed to be locked away and so their barriers quickly locked into place to stay as neutral in his presence. Their shoulders straightened as the deity turned to observe her further. They didn't address it, pretending to watch the show above them instead.
She caught his nod from the corner of her eye and relaxed just slightly. "The wine is good," they agreed, lifting a glass of a dark merlot. "It is actually. It never seemed like my vibe and I think I was right," the witch answered. "I normally spend my time at Ware." In fact, she had rumours about a deity coming in on her night off. Now she had to wonder if it was this one.
"You're curious... but nervous," Elio murmured aloud, leaning in towards the witch and smirking. He had always been bad about ignoring the itch to read someone's emotions, even if he was willing to avoid their thoughts. The mention of Ware would have been an easy topic to switch to politely, but Elio had little desire to reminisce his experiences there with a stranger. "What's on your mind?"
"It's Matthew to you," the fallen deity pointed out before his mind registered the familiar voice and he looked up through narrowed eyes to find Elio's face before his own.
"A little late for that," he said and tugged at the collar around his throat that was still happily glaring the words of consent. The blood loss was making him feel light-headed. Or was it the sudden teleportation? "I'm fine." A pause... He did not want to appear too weak in front of the other. "Are you drunk? I can practically smell the mead wafting off of you."
The deity could feel himself sober mildly when his state was called out, feeling embarrassment from the other’s seemingly disapproving tone as well as the slip up regarding his name. “I’ve had a few drinks,” he admitted, quickly cataloging the other’s state despite his own haziness. “Might not be sober but at least I’m not lying to myself,” he added, reaching for Matthew’s wrist and utilizing magic to try to help improve the other’s current state. Had he been sober or Matthew not depowered, he might have asked for consent, but the memory of being unable to heal Matthew’s gunshot wound immediately came to mind upon seeing him and the urge to resolve the matter before him hit him hard.

She gasped, shocked at her luck. “Daddy!” Giving Elio a cheeky wink she settled to the back of her seat giving him room. Her ostrich feathers made her look like one puffy ball when sitting but it didn’t matter much to her as she moved close to him quickly sniffing. “Are we a bit drunk?” To see other deities participating in the revelry pleased her to no end. “Great night-it’s even better now! Tell me yours is the same.”
Elio could feel the excessive liquor he'd consumed coursing through him as he smiled and moved to sit across from Lindley and her excessiveness. His own white outfit was near pristine with the exception of a drop of blood from a vampire he'd fed earlier-- the waste being an uncommon occurrence considering how coveted deity blood was. "A bit," he agreed with a relaxed smile glancing out the window of the cage and then back at the younger deity before him. "It's been an interesting night if nothing else," he answered back, grateful for her carefree and cheerful company.
Elio always had mixed feelings about social events since it was fairly common for people to have reservations around him.. Certain expectations of who he was and how he carried himself-- which he had never quite minded, although it was exhausting at times, if not lonely. The wine festival was the one time each year he allowed himself to indulge-- or even over indulge in public, and it usually went well until it didn't. He had grown use to waiting for something to spoil the evening for him each year, and Matthew had done a damn good job of that already when their paths had briefly crossed prior to finding Lindley.
Arjun resisted the urge to sigh again. He could sense how much he cared, and the exhaustion that came with carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Admittedly, it was a bit disheartening to witness. "Of course not." Arjun murmured dryly, "Why should Matthew burden himself with looking for help? It's beneath him, clearly." The man was simply too prideful, and it certainly helped his ego that others always came to him instead. Like moths to a flame.
Agreeing to Elio's suggested plan felt easier. He could certainly do a little investigating. Maybe ask dear Augustine, once he made some kind of breakthrough with his attempts. "I'll try to make it as less obvious as possible." A promise, that was. Arjun bit his lip, listening to his friend continue to speak..and felt himself reach across to gently place his hand atop of his. "..if something is true about us deities is that we know how to be patient. We can explore other venues..something to counteract those bullets."
Elio's gaze flickered from Arjun's hand up to his gaze, confusion in his own. He just gave a nod though and a forced, gentle smile. "Of course," he agreed, although his words felt hollow. Taking his mind off of matters had been difficult prior, and now it felt impossible with the feeling of defeat plaguing him.
He rubbed the bridge of his nose for a moment and sighed, trying to shift the topic to something that made him feel less vulnerable. "I'm sorry- I don't mean to be a dark cloud. Please don't stress over this.. I will handle it. Perhaps I should go though."
"..well, he did tell you, right? That has to mean something. Knowing you, perhaps you can even get him to.. you'll only have to make it seem like there's something to gain. Such is his selfish nature." It irked him. It irked Arjun that Elio could have that effect on Matthew, but he might be reading too much into things. Again. Elio cared about the greater good, helping others and...maintaining the natural balance, so it only made sense this might be something he would concern himself over. "Would you? There aren't many of us left and we're not immune to corruption. I, myself, have been the target of some of our fallen."
The art curator paused at the end of his sentence, and used it to finish his glass.. his gaze lifting to capture the look on the other's eyes. Was the prospect of peace unsustainable? And, what's more, something that they wanted to interfere in? Evidently, Elio thought they should. "..how can I help, Elio? Should we craft something of our own? I can keep an ear to the ground, see what I can find out in my circles."
"I left after matters... Failed. I also do not see him seeking out my company in his particular state, aside from helping to make sure Liber and the Hereafter continue to remain safe in leu of his state." Not that Matthew would have sought him out anyways, Elio thought to himself. "I've been keeping an eye on those buildings for quite some time though, and I don't wish to use that against him. I didn't offer to help protect the inhabitants and patrons of those establishments simply to gain any personal benefit, nor will I." He shrugged. "An ear to the ground... Sure... Make sure that they don't continue to develop and utilize magic to cause intentional harm to various otherwise immortal species... But the community has reached an agreement, so as far as I can see our hands are tied. Any obvious actions we take could be interpreted poorly if we aren't careful.
"Aside from tempting our own fates, I'm not sure there is much else we can or should do, Arjun. Short of us simply protecting our own and running with our tails between our legs to the Divine..." He sighed. "I am at a loss. There really is no option except to persist."
Nari was quiet for a moment as he considered Elio’s words. “You’re probably right. That being said, I suppose if you are all to continue to exist, these are the types of things that need to be done.” Even as he said it, Nari realised the magnitude of that decision on the deity choosing to do so and the gravity of each decision they made. “My age certainly does not make me any more qualified than the next person. I never had the chance to meet Elena, but I know you and for that reason alone, I know you had reason to choose her. Give her time. Don’t doubt yourself.” Nari gave him a soft smile, reaching over to briefly cover his hand with his own in a way he hoped was comforting, before retreating to make a triumphant move on the board. “Hm.” He grinned.
Elio's gaze softened, glancing down at Nari's hand atop his own. His lips drew slowly into a smirk as he watched the elf then make an impressive play on the board, leaving him to shake his own head.
"I am quite blessed to have someone like you in my life it seems," he commented with a gentle, self amused grin. "Quite blessed indeed."
Revelry was quiet literally Lindley’s thing. In days gone by she was worshiped as a goddess on such occasion, usually right next to those of wine and debauchery so it was only fitting that she would spend her night bathed in a sultry darkness illuminated by purple lights and throngs of supernaturals and humans waiting to do something they shouldn’t or in her opinion very much should!
There was no time like the present to be wild and have fun, especially after a hard days work. Not that many found her job as an influencer that grueling but where it lacked in the physically and mental labor it still held a lot of emotional labor. Every time she did something she wondered if she should be sharing it.
The last flash of the photo booth popped off, the deity striking a cute pose before hoping out and giving space to the couple behind her who clearly were just going to leave with a bunch of makeout photos. Sigh, the youth of it all. Of course who knew how old those beings were but even someone in their two hundreds was young to Lindley.
With a giddy step she made it to the ferris wheel, the ostrich feather on her dress illuminating as they glowed a vibrant blue. Settled she was happy to take the ride alone when the door opened.
Elio's grin widened as he slipped effortlessly into the ferris wheel cage and lounged in the seat across from Lindley-- a feat not easily done considering his own height. The only indication he was a bit buzzed from the sheer excess he'd drank was the pink tinge to his cheeks and a wide grin, looking positively pleased to have found a familiar face. "Lindley! Sweetheart-- having a good night, I hope?"

location: booths around the dancefloor somewhere

The Rubicund was not a place he frequented often. Even at his age he could only recall entering the club a handful of times before. He had almost lost his bearings twice coming back from the bar with half a glass filled with some Italian vintage wine, that he was sure he could not pronounce without butchering it entirely, in his hand. Once he had found an unoccupied booth a little ways from the dancefloor, he parked himself there and sipped slowly so as not to have to move again any time soon, and watched as the dancers enjoyed their evening of revelry.
He supposed he should make more of an effort to mingle, but he mused that the night was still young and whilst he enjoyed socialising in general, he found it a little grating attempting to hold a conversation by shouting into another's ear. At least from where he sat he was far enough away from the speakers to hear his own thoughts clearly, and relax into the festivities surrounding him.
When he felt a presence slide into the booth with him, his lips twitched upwards at the corners behind his wine glass. "Were you seeking my company, or a moment to rest your feet?"
"Both options can be true, can they not?" Elio grinned at the coven leader with a relaxed, toothy grin as he sat. "Hopefully the Dumisani are enjoying themselves tonight? And by that I mean more than just the coven, and that you aren't simply playing overprotective parent tonight with them," he teased gently.

Matthew's hand was pressed against the side of his neck where he had just been fed from, but the memory of it was a hazy blur. His last memory was of backing away from Leon Blachedone and it was then that he knew the damned vampire's glamour had worked.
The fallen deity cursed, the ache in his neck coupled with the blood loss was forcing him to use a concerted effort to keep himself upright. There were supposed to be service staff with healing potions, weren't there? Perhaps he could ask one of the service staff to deliver one to the private room that was under his name. He needed to find his way back to his room on the second floor first.
Bracing himself, Matthew put one foot in front of the other and started in the direction he remembered his room might be, only to stumble into someone dressed white. "Get out of my way," he mumbled to the other person and made to move past them.
Elio turned, his own thoughts mildly hazy from the ungodly amount of mead he had consumed. "Hm?" He turned, confused for a moment before he realized the familiar voice had indeed been Matthew. The demon however looked far from okay, and Elio was reminded of the other's depowered state quickly as he took in his current appearance.
"Matt!" He reached out to grab the other's upper arm and held him steady before transporting them both to a random hallway of the event that was quieter, albeit not empty. At very least easier for Elio to clear his thoughts enough to take in Matthew's state again. "Should you be participating? Are you okay?"
