Elijah

When we enter the building the first thing that strikes me is the smell, I put my hand to my mouth instantly and almost regret walking into it. Dirt, everywhere and not just dirt, dust, mould and just the general smell of neglect and death. There was no way I was going to stay in this building, there wasn't anyway I was going to stay in here for much longer. The smell had deferred my attention away from my allies and I turned and looked at both of them to see if they were thinking the same thing I was and Andromeda's face reflected one of terror, I guess her affliction was kicking in. I walked up to her and put my hand on her shoulder to try and calm her down.

I pick up my shillelagh and wipe the blood off of my dagger before opening the door with my good shoulder and bracing the cold. It seems as though we’d be sitting too comfortably. A two building lay demolished with smoke still coming from them. I shivered and and we walked parallel to the park and past one of the largest building in the arena. It was quiet, ridiculously quiet, I resisted the urge to scream just to remember that I was still here and alive. Elijah and Andromeda walked silently beside me, I’d always been in awe of Careers, their speed and agility was second to none.

I frown at her stupid proposal to go through the rubble, like seriously?

I looked at Elijah as he helped me take of my shirt and I couldn’t help but feel a little uncomfortable. He was so chill, like it was nothing and when I looked over at Andromeda my mouth formed a perfect ‘o’ shape. I really should have known. I watched him tear the tablecloth into long strips with the help of my dagger and I cleaned the wound with the whiskey myself. It was painful, so painful, but I just had to deal with it, the last thing I wanted was my wound to get infected. I managed to clear the majority of the blood away to see the extent of my wounds and they weren’t pretty.

Kaya's wounds were taking a lot longer than I thought they would, the bear had left raged cuts all down her arm and we couldn't afford an infection right now. After finishing the stitching I wrapped them some of table cloth to stop further infection and helped her put her shirt back on. I handed her a morphling tablet and the whiskey.

I’d had my nose broken before in fights but the pain never got any easier. I put the tablecloth against my nose to stop the bleeding.

I looked at both Andromeda and Kaya who were bleeding out and shook my head, two sponsorship gifts. Some warm food thank fuck and a needle and some thread which I presume is for their wounds and it would help a lot. I walked over to Kaya first considering she was the most hurt out of the three of us. The bear had left some pretty impressive marks on her arms but she was losing blood fast. I smiled at her and shook my head.

Elijah went up to the first floor and barged in a bedroom with two queen sized beds. He stopped in his tracks looking at the skeleton still bound to the bed. Both wrists in a cross over the skull and a black ribbon tying them to the bed frame. 

I frown at the beds wondering whether I should be creeped out or not by the skeletons on the bed knowing that they were fake, but bound by the wrists on a bed?

I looked at Kaya and Andromeda, both cut and bleeding heavily from somewhere and if I was honest with myself I was panicking a little. I huffed in exasperation, I did not have time for his. I walked up to Kaya first who seemed to have the worst of the injures and I swore when I saw the state of her arm.

Kaya's dagger landed nicely in the bear's chest but it didn't stop it, not at all. It pounded towards Kaya faster than I could react and sliced her shoulder as well. It's teeth were inches away from ripping her neck to shreds so I grasped the spear and threw it as hard as I could, aiming for the bear's skull. After I threw the spear I shouted as loud as I could

A sob is heard on the other end of the line, a broken voice floating through the receiver even as Elijah fights with his own demons. “Don’t you love me anymore, Elijah? Don’t you love me enough to join me? It’s as easy as breathing…You’ve forgotten all about me, Elijah. I died for you but you won’t do the same for me…” The voice on the other end is defeated, the person on the other end breathing deeply as they tried to reign in their emotions. 

Elijah had been gone for a while, and although there was no cannon, no sound of struggle but near complete silence.

Static was distorting his voice, it was going, the ability to speak had left me. I didn't know what to say, do I agree with him, give him what he wants and kill myself just like he did? was I selfish for wanting to live for us when he died for me? I tried to explain to him when I felt a small hand wrap around mine, it was Andromeda. She knew who I was talking to, knew that I was so slowly being tortured, I half expected her to take advantage of my current state, I was a pathetically easy kill, if anyone tried to stop them. I didn't want them to win, she was right and as painful as it was I let her take the phone away from my ear and put it down. A silence falls between us and I can't look at her, more tears roll down my face as I slump against the desk and sit on the floor. I would have preferred it if I was angry at this moment in time because this feeling of self loathing was unbearable.
