definitely a meth lab || Espen & Connor
cointriickedâ:
The moment Connor heard the name, he ran a search for it, trying to find something that could help him make sense of this situation. His LED flashed fast as he processed what he was given. He managed to get a couple of records from the 1600s that matched what he was looking for, but it turned out the name Espen Kjarr was pretty rare, and he couldnât find any matches that were recent or helpful. He was⌠mystified. There was really no other word for it.
He was frowning to himself and trying to figure out how to tell his partner that this man didnât exist, when Espen Kjarr said that to him instead. And something slid into place.
A theory was starting to form. One that didnât quite make sense â most of them are more symmetrical than that â but one that explained at least a bit of what was going on here.
There was a practice, in some of the darker corners of Detroit. One where people would go to the old mass graves of androids and pick out pieces. Or sometimes they would obtain, through legal or illegal methods, an android that was already completed. Then they would take these parts and rearrange them into a new android. It was highly unusual for any of them to have fingerprints, but stranger things had happened. Connor was living proof of some of those stranger things. But if this man was an android, then he would have access to Hankâs file. He would be able to see that he needed those things.
âA witness in our current case said that you may have some knowledge that may help us with our investigation,â he said, feeling calmer now that he had least had a guess at what was going on here. âIf you are willing to answer a few questions, we would be very appreciative of your time.â
Hank was still watching the dude suspiciously, but did go over to browse the crystal selection. He wanted to see if there was anything suspicious in that corner. He was definitely not interested in healing crystals. He was an adult.Â
Espen returned his attention to the younger cop. âOf course. Iâd be happy to cooperate,â he said, looking anything but. âBut I donât think Iâll be much help. Iâm something of a shut-in. And I certainly donât associate with vagabonds or whoever youâre hunting today.â There. That should satisfy them.
Hank raised his eyebrows. âVagabonds?â He glanced at Connor. What the fuck was up with this guy? He also thought the use of the word hunting was odd here, but heâd seen weirder. âJust answer the questions, Mr. Kjarr.âÂ
Espen frowned and nodded slightly. âCertainly.â His heart rate picked up a little, but he looked calm. He started slowly reaching for his magic. It was always at the tips of his fingers, but for a spell like this, he needed to draw from a much deeper well.Â
