Independence Poems
I wrote a poem, for the first time, just after the referendum and then after the General Election; which I hope others might enjoy.
The Unicorn Waits by Elizabeth Anne Fraser
The Unicorn still bound looks at the keys to his shackles, within reach, yet so far away.
Denied the unlocking by fear.
Waiting for a time when hope prevails.
The keys will turn, the shackles will fall and he can raise his head again in pride.

The Unicorn Still Waits by Elizabeth Anne Fraser
The Unicorn still waits but pricks his ears, at the sound of new Champions making ready to rattle the old order.
His chains feel lighter, he stands taller and his coat starts to shine; looking forward to the day he can run free.

Hopefully one day soon I will write another called ‘The Unicorn Waits No More’.
